REDants!

Red ants in the rice

My sister suddenly called me loud. She was in the kitchen that time. She yelled at me, “ants!” The cauldron where I cook the rice for the dogs is with many small red ants, so plenty that I had goose flesh. I immediately lit the stove up and opened the cauldron to turn and toss the rice. The red ants were scrambling to get out of the heating pot. But I was the vicious terminator and I used fire to kill the annoying red ants. These red ants are so small, they have the capacity to bite fiercely and cause rashes. I would not like that. Do you get goose bumps when you see a myriad of red ants? I had that a while ago.

I seldom see ants. I lived in the countryside when I was young. I have seen a lot of ants, but I definitely don't like them. It tickles me to climb onto my skin.

@id_peace but come to think of it, if one ant bites you, it is but natural for us to take the ant off your skin and at the same time, press or prick it to kill.

I never like ants. We have lots in the backyard because of the brick paving we have there. No red ants however (I think). Now and then, I get bitten regardless of their colors, nasty creatures!

@ridingbet yes because cooking oil more cheaper than coconut oil, ants don't like oil they are only like wet.

yes, i believe it is you who also made a discussion about the ants that get into your nerves. i think i even suggested a type of chalk that can eliminate the ants from coming in to your food.

Red ants are the worst I've encountered. I never had them in my food though. I'm glad you were able to get rid of them.

good Sunday and happy mother's day to you. no, i was not able to remove all the ants in the rice. i instead reheated the rice so the red ants were 'killed'. it was good because the rice was for the dogs and not us. we have our own cooked rice in the rice cooker pot.

@renicemae the black ants do carry food back to their nest. especially before the rains come, we usually see the black ants in line and 'kissing' each other back and forth their nest

@ridingbet Nope. Haven't experienced that. I just sweep them of and throw to the trashcan. Or sometimes when I'm feeling good, I just let them be..because I'm thinking that they are storing food for the rainy days.

@mlgen1037 i think there is a kind of chalk that can prevent the ants from reaching the place they want to go.

@ridingbet It did it one part of the house then I saw where they really came from - outside on the wall of the door.

The pain is much with their bites. In our native place, there many kinds of ants, red, small, big, black that also small and big. Some are harmless but it can climb over body and ran here and there.

yes i can imagine somebody being crawled upon by ants. i think this was one of the punishments in a movie that i watched before. the head of the victim is the one above the land and he is poured honey so the ants went and hurt his face.

They probably sense it's going to rain soon some day or something. I wonder if they were in the rice pack or dispenser before you put it in the cooker.

no, the rice from the dispenser is clean, no lice and no ants. the red ants were groping under the stove and because i did not put the cauldron in a plate of water, the ants climbed up and went inside the pot. regarding their premonition that it will rain, i believe it is the quick black ants that find a safe place for them to stay when it rains.

true. there are big red ants that can be eaten as an exotic food; the medium-sized red ants, and the small ones that i found in our rice pot. these red ants bite and can cause rashes. then the black ants that seem to be always hurrying.
