Okay, I'm not going to take credit for this. I didn't even dream I was this close to being accurate.
Two months ago I posted an opinion discussion (http://www.mylot.com/post/3164323/are-cars-becoming-a-thing-of-the-past ), in which I mentioned a simple observation: sedan-type automobiles are not the norm any longer. I see lots of SUVs, minivans, and pick-ups, but the traditional car just seems to be falling out of favor in the US.
Apparently the executives at Ford Motor Company reads myLot.
Late last month they announced that they are going to stop making sedans. They will still offer one sedan model, and the trusty Mustang isn't going anywhere (for those people who like to spend more on a car than I did on my house), but the rest of their sedan market is going bye-bye.
This isn't going to be a "sudden stop," but instead the models will be phased out over the next few years.
Ford cites the boom in sales of SUVs, crossovers (what I have), and other non-sedan models.
Thanks for reading my article, Ford execs!
The article about Ford's decision:
The article about Ford's decision:
DETROIT -- Ford Motor Co. on Wednesday said it plans to stop selling all Ford brand sedans in North America and that it is nearly doubling its cost-cutting target by 2022 from the plan it laid out ...

I have an SUV and couldn't picture myself going back to driving a sedan. Wonder how many other car manufacturers will follow

A lot of car companies have the "small, medium, and large" SUV range covered now, and they don't seem to be developing new sedans. Others may not be so drastic as to say they'll stop making sedans, but I don't see any push to develop and push new sedan models.

They are going to keep one, I think the Focus (or whatever their most popular selling sedan is).

You had me going for a minute there, lol. I prefer a minivan and my husband has a crossover. My one daughter h has a Ford escape, but I'm not sure what category that fits into although I'm pretty sure it's not a sedan and my other daughter does have a sedan. I think she has an Impala.
I will probably stay with a minivan although I'd prefer one a bit larger than my current model so we could for our equipment for cleaning windows along with fitting passengers.
This comment brought to you by Deb Mitchell. (Meaning I was visiting her and saw this on her page).

I think the Escape is a crossover. Sheesh, they’re made here and I don’t have a clue. (The F150 is also made here.)
Thanks to @corbin5 for the referral!
