I have annoyed the cat

Princess will go with us on our next journey. In Omaha we will stay in a cabin. We will put her on a lead but inside while we are gone during the day, and if we let her out at night.of course.
I bought a halter for her today to hook the lead too. She is wearing it right now and is not really happy.
I gave her cat nip before doing so, and after putting it on as well. I hoped it would make her mellow. She has not often been given cat nip and does not usually like it, but this is a good organic brand and is probably quite fresh. She loves the cat nip, hates the halter collar.
She will wear it off and on from now until we travel. Just to get used to it.
I will probably take it off when she goes outside for now, just so she does not get hooked on something. I actually think it is safer than a regular collar.
So, I have given her food and catnip and she is avoiding me.

She seems okay as long as we do not mess with it.

I thought I had adopted a mellow, domesticated Siamese from our shelter. Then I put a collar on him and wow!! He went insane and ripped it off. I tried again and he went into a total meltdown. I hope you do tons better than I have.

She has worn a regular collar for a long time. That way people at least know she is not one of the many stray black cats around here.

Cats are fickle, you may have to work with her a bit.

At least she's allowing you to get it on her. I imagine my cat would tear me to shreds if I even attempted to put a halter on him.
Cats are so easily angered. She'll forgive you eventually -- after all, you're the one who feeds her.

She is okay now that it is on, but I know she will hate the lead.

She is fine, it just was not her idea. She tried to eat my arms.

@GardenGerty Dear Ms Mother of Kitty, I completely disagree with anything around the neck of any kitty. I started life as a kitty who objected and have slipped every collar. I did it when I first met Human 1 and her son. They insulted me by putting one on and taking me for walkies like a DOG. I slipped it and then got my revenge. They spent an entire night looking for me and all the time, I was following them. It was great fun. Since then I have made my feelings on the subject quite clear. I do not do collars. I fully side with the cat in your household on the matter Love from Freya, the Catblog Catxxx

Oh yeah, cats hate those things @GardenGerty . It is a good thing though on the practice sessions.

It is just for her safety and I may insist she get used to it, although we did not take the long trip we had planned.

She did manage to get one of her front legs pulled back through--very awkward for her.

What is very hard they do not understand that we do things for them because you love them. I have never given my cat catnip. She would never let me put a leash on her. We have never gone on a trip together yet because we would have to bring a lot of things with us and also I would be taking her away from her home that she is used to.

I did not always take her on trips, and do not do it very often now. She is happier staying at home if we are not gone too long. She wears a lead or leash in the car so that IF she got out without me seeing she could be tracked down. I always feel sorry when I see lost or abandoned animals at rest areas.

What makes me very sad is those that have pets and are too lazy to walk them let them out by theirselves and can get run over by cars on busy streets. i wonder why do they have them. They have to be responsible for their pet or do not have one.

It doesn't take much to annoy them that's for sure. My cat will stare at me while I eat. I'll give her a bit to taste and she'll walk away from it or bat it around the floor, but if I don't 'share' with her for this reason, she gives me dirty looks for the rest of the day.

You are right about that. Princess thinks everything we eat is for her, until we give her some and she shows great disdain.

It probably upsets her quite a bit to travel, but it would upset her more to be boarded away from us.

She goes in and out at home. I think there is more danger from stray cats than anything else. She would attack a stray cat, but she would run away from a coyote or fox, I think. She is very good at going up a tree.

@LadyDuck I have not seen a raccoon around here. We had lots of them at our other place. We make sure that Princess is indoors when it is dark outside as that is when the predators tend to show up.

@GardenGerty I know that raccoons can kill cats and they are very good going up a tree also.

We decided not to go to Minnesota at this time, so left her at the house. She does okay for two or three days with plenty of food, clean water and a litter tray. She does go with us for longer trips.

We got the collar on. She sat in Bob's lap a while then slept out side on a lawn chair.
