Man, When I Cut the Cord, I CUT It!

Last July I decided that cable television wasn't worth $160 of my money, given how precious little TV I watch. I cancelled my cable and, for $20, got a subscription to MLB (where I can watch all the baseball games I want [save for live Cincinnati Reds game, as they're the "local market team," but as poorly as they play who WANTS to watch them live?]), and went on my merry way. Something that I didn't notice, though, was just how deeply that cut went when I "cut the cord" to cable. Over the weekend I was in a hotel in Cincinnati for our golf tournament. I didn't turn the TV on once. I listened to the Cubs/Reds game on the MLB app and watched a little bit of another one before falling asleep (that's what I usually do at home), but I didn't even bother to see what channels were available. When I cut it, I really cut it! If it's the deepest it's the only one you need:

I watch when I'm in bed and I always set a 2 hour timer so that once I'm asleep it'll turn itself off.

First off, love the song! Been without cable for almost four years now. Longer if I count the first time I cut cable, that's another two years. I hardly watch any television nowadays.

I've done a lot of binge watching since I started streaming @allen0187 but I'm running out of good shows that I'd want to stream, I guess its time to rerun some of the ones I streamed a couple years ago.

I have been thinking of cutting my cable bill too. It's ridiculous what they charge

You should try the streaming services, there are so many movies and TV shows to choose from.

Your cut was a bit deeper than ours. We dropped directv after AT&T bought them because we knew our bill would go up and it did. We bought a ROKU and over the air antenna. The only thing that we pay monthly for is the slingtv app which are live channels. We went from $148.00/month to $23.00/ month. We are so much happier now.

I have a firestick and stream via Amazon and sometimes I add Netflix or Hulu. How much do you spend on Internet services?

@rebelann The internet is $59.99 monthly. We don't use amazon, hulu or netflix. Just SlingTV and are satisfied.

I only have whats called basic cable, there are no channels but it lets me steam Netflix or Amazon or Youtube or Hulu etc etc and I love it. I pay $65 a month for internet and basic cable which is wonderful and IF I want I could subscribe to all those streaming services but I only have 1 or 2 at a time which usually costs me less than $20 a month. I've been doing this since 1999.
