A beautiful and perhaps even unique animated feature film from Disney_Pixar.
Set in Mexico, during the Day Of The Dead festival, with an entire cast of Latin American voice actors,
It centres on a twelve year old boy, Miguel, who lives with his family of shoe-makers, including his wheelchair bound Dementia suffering gran, Coco.
Because she felt jilted by her lover, Miguel's Great Great Grandmother had imposed a generation spanning ban on any kind of music. Her lover had vanished one night seemingly in search of fame and fortune, leading the family to extreme poverty until the shoe-making business saved them.
Miguel secretly loves music, and idolizes a once legendar, now dead Mexican crooner, Ernesto.
When Miguel borrows a guitar from a church to perform in a music contest, his action casts him into the land of the dead, though he is still alive. He meets his own ancestors who mostly want to help get him home, but they insist he honours the music ban too.
Miguel sees only one hope of gaining respect for his music, impressing the dead but still hero-worshipped Ernesto, oblivious that the family curse on music was started by Ernesto himself when he murdered the Great Great Grandmother's husband to steal his songs.
The land of the dead is lovely rather than scary, but when forgotten by all their descendants even the ghosts vanish forever but |miguel sets out to capture their memories in song, and the most tearful moment of any movie comes with Miguel singing the songs to Coco who recalls them enough to join in.
A delightful, beautifully animated movie. The colours on the cityscapes and the spirit guide giant cat-beast are breath-taking. It looks like He Man's Battle-Cat might look if Skeletor was on LSD.
One of the greatest films ever.

I prefer their version of After life over the Christian and Islamic one, I mean on their after life there is no hell and heaven. All you need is a picture on your ofrenda and you will live forever.
