Wonderful News!

Our family is growing again!
Last night a niece and her husband had their third child. They had a healthy bouncing baby boy. They have a daughter and now two sons.
This makes for the 28th member of that generation. This is our great-nephew, so that makes me a Great Aunt 28 times. And there is another one due later on this year, which will bring that generation's total to 29.
We are a big family, but this is wonderful news that we never grow tired of.

@Juliaacv That is a wonderful family relationship, my neice and I are only 2.5 years apart in age so we grew up more like cousins and her daughter and my daughter we friends when they were little. The great greats are a boy and a girl and the girl just graduated from nursing school. Both of these children adored my sister and helped care for her at the end of her life.

@BelleStarr My husband is only 8 or 9 years his eldest niece's age. And she is our son's God Mother, we wanted someone related to us and someone in his generation who was mature. She fits her role perfectly.
Don't you just love watching the "younger" generations grow and become husbands and wives and then parents. It really warms my heart.

Thanks!
You and I both have a deep appreciation for family and generations.
I don't think that Great Great makes you ancient, just VERY special in my books!
This niece is my husband and my God-Daughter.
She was baptized in the hospital as she was only a couple of pounds at birth (premature) and when her brother was born a few years later she decided that she's like to be baptized when he was. Her parents allowed her to choose her God parents, and she choose my hubby and I. We used to live just a few doors apart, and saw a lot of each other.

@Juliaacv that's how my late husbands side of the family is. They are a huge bunch that gets together and I was so shy about it for along time. I still am really but am more used to it now after all these years. They are very welcoming and a very close family it's wonderful!

Thank you.
Its a big family, and a little intimidating when you first meet everyone all at once. Our son's wife still gets a bit nervous when we gather together. But everyone is so loving, and a lot of fun. We do laugh a lot, and its right across all of the generations, which is nice.

@shaggin I used to get quiet scared really before we met. And I would often be the adult who was outside watching the little ones. And today, those little ones are adults, who remember me always being there. Our children are our future, and if we're lucky enough, we can live that phrase, and even watch the next generation practise the same.

@LadyDuck Oh yes, I would love to be a grandmother. But I have a niece that is as close to being a daughter as anyone could be, and she will have her second child later on this year. That is a very special bond, I may only be the baby's great aunt, but in my heart I'm more.
And I'm very thankful for that.

Thanks Alfredo! I'm so happy for them.
Our niece's name is Amanda, and her husband's name is Adam, their children are Addison, Asher and now this one is named with an A also, Axel. With a name like that he's got the makings to be a real bada$$ doesn't he?

@Juliaacv I just love babies. Especially, the ones, I can hug and snuggle up to and give back when its time to change the diaper!

The only downfall to being in such a huge family is that nobody has a home large enough to have everyone in at once. So we rely on outdoor parties-which can be tricky if it rains, and then every year the 8 in my husband's generation, take a turn and rent a hall and we all gather together. Its so much fun when we do that.

@moffittjc You sure can, we do a potluck, so can we put you down to bring the sunshine and warmth? And don't forget your change, there are always a few different card games going as well as pokeno.
