Day 53 Matthew 19:1 Matthew 19:1 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan; 2 And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there. 3 The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? 4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, 5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. 7 They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? 8 He said unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. 9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, commits adultery: and whoso marries her which is put away doth commit adultery. 10 His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry. 11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. 12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it. Marriage has become a free for all. It has become so distorted that some people marry whomever and whatever they desire, or they live together outside of marriage, making the idea of marriage a meaningless ceremony, no longer sacred in the eyes of man or God. What is marriage? Marriage is the joining together of a man and a woman who love each other and are brought together by God. God instituted marriage in the Garden of Eden. Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. 19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. 20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found a help meet for him. 21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. 25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. Mark 10:6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. (KJV) 1 Corinthians 6:15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of a harlot? God forbid. 16 What? Know ye not that he which is joined to a harlot is one body? For two, said he, shall be one flesh. 17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man does is without the body; but he that commits fornication sins against his own body. 19 What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. Romans 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. God takes no pleasure in sin, but he turns those who refuse to acknowledge him over to their sin. That is not to say, God hates the sinner, he doesn’t. God loves everyone, which is why he sent his Son, Jesus, to die for the sin of the world, so man has a second chance to turn their lives from sin to the love of Jesus Christ and God their Father. Jesus ate with publicans and sinners, showing he had as much love for them, as he does for those who don’t live an evil and adulterous life. It is the sin God hates, not the sinner. As Christians, you are not to judge those who live their lives contrary to the Word of God. God is their Judge. You are to love them, because God loves them. Jesus died for them, the same as he died for you. You are not to show them any form of hatred, but you are to love them as Jesus loves you. We have divorce, not because it was instituted by God, but men. Jesus said God allows divorce because of the hardness of man’s heart. However, God shows only one reason for divorce – fornication. Even in divorce, Jesus gave a harsh statement, very few people consider – those who divorce and remarry commit adultery. Marriage God recognizes is between a man and woman, and they are to live together until the death of the spouse. Only upon the death of the spouse are they free to marry again. 1 Corinthians 7:10 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: 11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife. 12 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believes not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. 13 And the woman which hath an husband that believes not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. 14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. 15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace. 16 For what know thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? Or how know thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife? Malachi 2:14 Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. 15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. 16 For the LORD, the God of Israel, said that he hates putting away: for one covers violence with his garment, says the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously. God is your judge. God loves all people but hates sin. Consider, these are not my words, they are God’s. I am no man’s judge, nor will I treat any man with dislike or hatred. No man answers to me. Let’s pray: Father, you are my Father. You are my judge. As you love me, help me love those whom you created, and look past the sin to see the person. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Amen! I totally agree that its up to us to love everyone and anyone; its not our place to tell them how to live their life. its only our place to be there supporting and showing the blessings of the lord, so they too may find a path to god. However.... Did Adam have two wives? The two different stories of creation between Gen 1 and Gen 2. The first one, God created man and woman from the earth. The second, God made Eve from Adam. Tales of Ben Sira go into more details concerning Lilith, who may be the unnamed woman in Gen 1. ??

Genesis 2 is a summary of Genesis 1, and went into greater detail with the creation of Eve from Adam. Adam didn't have two wives. Where would the second have come from, except his child. No, that didn't happen. He only had the wife God created for him. Have a blessed day.
