GERD + IBS

Hello friends. I don't know if I ever told you this but I suffer from this disease since many years ago: GERD + IBS. For those that don't know gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the tube connecting your mouth and stomach (esophagus). This backwash (acid reflux) can irritate the lining of your esophagus. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common disorder that affects the large intestine. Signs and symptoms include cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, gas, and diarrhea or constipation, or both. IBS is a chronic condition that you'll need to manage long term. The weird thing is that for many years I had no idea that these were illnesses that actually had a medical name. After I found out that I suffer from GERD, the doctor recommended me to use Esomeprazole as a temporary medication for it. Of course that I did use it and it did had a positive effect on me but after I gave it up, the symptoms of GERD came back to annoy me and from time to time I used to buy myself another box of Esomeprazole from the pharmacy to fight the symptoms. Nowadays, I also use Esomeprazole 80 mg / day. The weird thing that I noticed is that while using Esomeprazole not only that my GERD symptoms are gone but also my IBS symptoms too are gone which makes me believe that in my case GERD and IBS are strongly connected to each other. But of course that I am tired of depending on Esomeprazole to feel good and get rid of GERD and IBS symptoms and decided to program myself to a medical clinic for some investigation and I shall ask the doctor to give me a cure which has a long term effect, not like Esomeprazole which is doing me good only as long as I use it and afterwards the symptoms come back. I want something that destroys the cause not just the effects, something that will ensure that I won't have to deal with these symptoms at least a few years from now on. Have you ever suffered of GERD or IBS or both (like me)? How did you get rid of it?
