Wheels in motion for gallbladder surgery....

I had another meeting with my surgeon earlier this month. I thought I might as well update those who were wondering.
So my last blood test results showed that my liver numbers ( whatever it means ) were all too high. Dr Tan ( the surgeon ) is so friggen sweet and understanding.
The surgeon I saw before him was refusing to take my gallbladder out because he "was convinced the pains / sickness were not due to my gallbladder but" in my head.
Yes because apparently I am magical enough to create such horrendous pain along with bad Ultrasound results and negative blood test results. But Dr Tan believes me and wants to take it out. I was very hesitant last time to agree to surgery as I'm scared. I've never had surgery before.
Dr Tan just sat with me and said it was my choice yet at the same time he highly recommended I do this as he believes some gallstones have been popping out of my gallbladder which is causing my liver results to be bad. He also explained that I could have issues with other organs if this continues.
So after I asked lots of questions, I finally decided to accept. Dr Tan drew me a picture of what is causing me to be sick and in pain. He also showed me what he will be doing. I even asked him if he has done this before.
I didn't mean that in a horrible way. Just felt better knowing he has done this surgery before. He laughed anyway so it was all good. I asked him questions like "Are you sure I will sleep?" "Are you sure I will wake up?" "What are the chances of me waking up half way through?"
He made me feel better with his answers but I am still nervous.
There is no set date yet. I'm waiting on their call / letter but apparently it will be sometime this August.

@amitkokiladitya He really is. He is just amazing and I'm feeling very lucky that he took my case on as I've had very little luck with many other doctors.

Don't think of things that will make you scared of the surgery. Before my gallbladder removal, I was tempted to watch on youtube how they do it, but I didn't cause I can't take it, until now. :)
You will be asleep throughout the surgery. After the surgery I'm sure you will be alright. There will be side effects and adjustments after but I'm sure you'll be okay. Just take care of your health

i'm sure he's been asked all sorts of questions before, but i agree , dr. tan is very nice. maybe he's the right person to finally help resolve this.
when my sister had surgery, she asked the doctor which hospital he's most comfortable in and that's where she chose to have her surgery even if it was pricey. she just chose a simpler room so the rates are lower.

@Cristi_Ichim I go through phases where my gallbladder will cause me pain and sickness. At the moment it has been ok. So they haven't put me into the "emergency category." If I have pain again I've been told to go straight to the hospital. I can go get a script for codeine if it begins to hurt too.

@VivaLaDani13 , The laparoscopy is a lot easier than the regular gall bladder surgery.

@marlina Yes it is. Thank goodness lol He explained to me what would be done and thankfully it's only 3-4 small incisions.

I should think that you sooner you get it done the better Dani. I had surgery on my hip a couple of years ago, and modern techniques are so good that you will be 'out' before they count to ten (I only got as far as three!). Then you won't know anymore until you wake up in the recovery room. Good luck.

@jaboUK I agree. I actually got a call from the hospital yesterday but I missed their call. I will ring them today but I'm assuming it was to give me a date so I'm kinda back to being nervous again.
Thank you for telling me about your hip surgery. It's comforting to know how quick we can fall asleep. I think that's the main thing that scares me. I'm ok with any pain or discomfort after the surgery. I don't like it but I've tolerated a lot of pain already that I'm certain I can handle a bit more. But the idea of someone putting me to sleep is for some reason the scariest thing to me. Also the fear of not waking up again.

@cintol It is quite some time to wait but I'm happy I was considered for this at all since I've had the trouble of being taken seriously with all this. It's a bit of a wait but over the many years of tolerating this, I can tolerate it for a little bit longer.

He deserves a thank you basket or something for being a good doctor. Far better than the ones who claimed you had phantom pains. Now just the surgery to go smoothly without trouble and pain.
