Whew, have to sit for a bit

It is a gray humid day, although not hot. Somehow on my way to one project, I got side tracked to another one that has been on hold for a year. I received a derelict oak bookshelf that was falling apart when I went to buy something else from an ad. The bookshelf was actually leaning all over the trash at the curb. I brought it home and put a spare piece of plywood on the back that mostly fit. Then I tried to use wood putty to fill the seams. It did not work. I also was not sure what its purpose in life was going to be. It has been waiting patiently standing behind the sofa. Last week sometime I moved the wardrobe out of my room that I had bought from another sale. It is too big for my bedroom. I have stuff to fix it up as well, but that can wait. Now I need a place to put my clothes. I have my clothes in those folding fabric covered cubes, plus some in four wicker baskets from a long deceased changing table. They were in, and on top of the wardrobe, which is now in the office/dining area for storage. I had a tall thin shelf in my shed that would hold some of the things, but not all. On the other hand, if I get this book shelf fastened together well and the inside shelves painted and put back in, all of my things will have a home again. possible even more things. It has gotten past lunch time and I have the shakes because my blood sugar has dropped and I am working hard. Hubby is working on his car before it rains. I warmed up some leftovers, and ate them and now I am resting for just a little bit.

You know, I am never bored, and I like unique things. It is functional and the most expensive part of it will be the paint.

@just4him I found one recently near where my sister got her teeth made. I have not been in there. This was inexpensive paint from the Wal Mart "grab and go" line. I am itching to get into the Restore, though .

@GardenGerty Paint can be expensive. Is there a Habitat for Humanity store in your area - called Restore? You might be able to get the paint for a cheaper price. Just a thought. We all like to save money.

Oak is a wonderful hard wood and it is one of my favorites. I like old things that have some history.

Sometimes it takes me all day just to get nothing done. This is Monday, trash day, so that is done.

Sometimes I feel as if I eat constantly. I got the shelf assembled for now. I have more boxes for it. I will do the outside finish later on this year.

Oh, I am careful and that is why I took time to sit down a while. There is much that is wrong with this unit, but it will do the job for what I have in mind.
