"Day Shift" by Charlaine Harris is the second book in the Midnight, Texas series. The Midnight, Texas book series has been made into a telvision series, which is now in production of it's second season. The central location for this book series is a small crossroad town in Texas named Midnight. It's inhabitants all seem to have something peculiar about them which makes them not fit in with the rest of normal society. This book digs deeper into the histories of the charaters and we find out more about what exactly makes them "oddities". Manfred Bernardo who is the main character of the first book in the series, and alsoa character that appears in the Harper Connelly series writte by the same author is less of a focal point in this book- which allows the other characters to shine. We find out more about Bobo who owns the pawn shop, and finally figure out more about the mysterious cat that lives with Fiji. It is a very supernatural novel, as are all of Charlaine Harris' books (at least the ones that I have read). This book has all sorts of "other wordly creatures in it, including a vampire, a pyschic and a witch. That being said I wouldn't consider any part of this book scary or horrific. They aren't that hard to read, and while I have enjoyed this series more than the HC series, they are still young adult in nature. There is some suspense, but nothing too crazy. I would reccomend this for summer reading for anyone who likes supernatural stories, or is a fan of Harris' work. I give it three point five stars out of five.

I am going to see if I can find it on ebay for cheaper than they are selling it at Walmart, although I do have sixty bucks in Walmart gift cards.
