That is how much I was paid for 13 out of 14 dvds that I took with me to sell.
You might be thinking that that's not a lot of money for 13 dvds and you're right. I probably could have haggled at one of the places but honestly? My main goal is to get rid of them. I intend to come back to the places I went today and so I don't want to make any enemies.
In total I got a little over ten dollars. Part of my payment was in store credit which I will probably end up using one of the next times I go to get rid of the dvds.
I also found out two things :
At the pawn shop they won't take full screen movies.
At the media thrift store I will probably get a little more money out of a movie or t.v. series than I would just a stand alone movie.
I saw some things I could get at the thrift store some including dvds. Of course I won't get those because I don't often watch dvd's. I was just delighted to see them there.
I'll let you guys know how I fair on a bigger haul of movies. I think next time I will try taking 25-50 dvds at a time.
So what are you doing today?

Well I am just happy to have a little bit of money. It will afford me the opportunity to buy some things at the street fair I will be attending at the end of the month. Plus, since part of the "pay" will be in a voucher for the store, I can come back and peruse the shelves for books like I wanted to before.

@AKRao24 Yes I guess so. I am sure you could make more online than going to thrift stores in your community. I wanted to get rid of mine as soon as possible so that is why I am going this route.

I didn't sell these online. I sold them at stores in my community.
Hope you will have good success selling yours.

This is true but the real purpose is to get rid of them and faster than if I sold them myself.
If I can get a little bit of money out of then that's all the better. The $7.88 will pay for a meal on my trip at the end of this month.

Getting that for 13-14 dvds is pretty cheap. Why so little? Each one probably cost over ten bucks when you originally got them. No?

I didn't originally get them.
I know some of them were probably bought from the $5.00 bin at walmart.
The purpose for me is to get rid of them and faster than if I were to try to sell them myself.

@JustBhem Oh that's okay. The money will be used toward my vacation at the end of this month. Hopefully I will be able to go either later this week or next to sell some more.

That is more money than you started with, and you did not have to ship things anywhere. I understand your reasoning about not haggling with people you want to have a business relationship with.

I also wasn't the one to buy the dvds and so any amount given is a gain. The thrift store had a lot of books that I will probably peruse the next time. It sort of changed hands. From what I can gather, the store owner sold out to his old business partner. Reviews of the store were mixed but more negative than positive. Which reminds me, I should probably go review the store on facebook.

I haven't tried to sell any of our dvds, but I have seen people who sell theirs for less than $1, and I don't think it is easy to get a lot of money for them. I would accept a small amount if I wanted to get rid of them.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It is nice that you get some extra money that way. I have thought about selling some of our dvds, but my husband usually wants to keep everything, and I don't think that he would like the idea. Right now we live in a house, but if we move into something smaller one day I think that we will need to get rid of some of the things that we have.

@Porcospino It can be so hard to part with things so I can understand how your husband feels about the DVD collection.
DVDs are becoming obsolete now though, soon everyone will be getting their media streamed digitally. I hope physical books never go obsolete.

Yes and I definitely want to get rid of them. I am going to go back either later this week or next. Most likely next week. I've got to do some things around the house the next couple of days and then i'll be away for the weekend.
It will give me time to get more together atleast. Every penny I make will go towards the weekend trip I have at the end of this month.

You are still lucky you got money for those. I don't know any shops or anybody here who would want to buy dvd's at all.
My Monday was great. Had my regular underarm waxed and then I bought something on impulse. A great pair of Fitflop, a brand I like for comfort shoes.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Oh not at all! I believe the legs and the bikini would hurt. I've done Brazilian wax several times already and it still hurt. But the armpit? No.

@toniganzon That's strange. I would imagien the armpit would hurt because of the sensitive skin there. Yes I think a bikini wax would hurt very much.
I will just stick to only waxing my eyebrows.

Those are very cute!
Yes I am glad that there are places around here that will take them.
I have gotten my eyebrows waxed but I couldn't do my armpit. It would hurt too much!

that's really not a lot, but also not bad. considering taking in videos, is just like taking in games at gamestop - where you also don't get much.. not anymore anyways.

Oh no, gamestop is definitely a ripoff. I may get rid of some of my old games that I no longer play as well. Everything I get for these videos will be going towards my vacation at the end of this month. I won't have them all sold by then so the money I receive after the vacation will be going towards bills, things I need to start making presents for birthdays and Christmas and then jut savings.

@Courtlynn A lot of the "mom and pop" type movie and game stores have gone out of business here. There is one that I know of but I don't know how much business it gets. Most people are doing their business online now.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Oh I know they are, least now. But my brother sold some things about 7 years ago for good prices, and was able to buy brand new $60 games with it. times sure have changed.
That's good, I hope you get most of it sold by the time you go on vacation.
My boyfriends town had a moviestop, just like gamestop but with dvds and blurays.. obvi. lol. I loved going there, and would buy a few parts of a series then return them after watching for a few more. lol.

It still amazes me that people even BUY DVDs. Maybe it's that I am not much a movie buff, but really, once I see a movie once it is rare I will watch it again with a few exceptions. But people do go crazy over those darn things. Glad you got a little money out of what you had.

Oh there is a lot more to sell. These were my brother's dvd's but he's been gone for a decade now.
I don't buy dvd's either. I have my favorite movie of all time (Clue the 1985 version) digitally bought so I don't have to fuss with a dvd.
I read more than I watch television.

I am now home I went to the hospital , my sister had surgery, removed scar tissue.
I am glad to be home, she is witchy.

I don't like visiting hospitals, that's for sure.
I have a fear of elevators so that's part of it. Especially parking deck elevators.
Is she witchy because of the surgery then?

The fact that I am able to get rid of them is reward enough. I'll take the pennies that are given to me for them and do so gladly.
