A tough walk to MacKenzie Falls

We spent last night at Halls Gap in the Grampians National Park in Victoria. It is 260 kilometres (160 mi) west of Melbourne and 460 kilometres (290 mi) east of Adelaide. Halls Gap is the largest service town in the area and seems full of accommodation options. It is school holiday time here and there are a great number of families and young people in the town.
The range features a series of sandstone mountains and a number of waterfalls and geological features. In 2006, a major bushfire burned out around half of the Grampians National Park. Five years later, major flooding resulted in the closure for several months of some parts of the Grampians National Park.
Today we drove out to MacKenzie Falls and made the steep descent to the base of the falls. Water cascades over the high cliffs, falling into a deep pool at the base. Again my poor knees were protesting as we made our way back up but we got there and no doubt it was good for us. Certainly the waterfall was stunning and we were able to get some nice photos to remember in the future.

What a great water fall that is! Great photo too. I showed this to Anne and she asked if she could get permission from you or Vince (whoever took the shot) to use it in an art quilt.

I love water falls and sometimes spend time watching videos.
That walk is actually good for your knees. In a day or two that pain will disappear.

@mlgen1037 Yes on all counts. It is tiring but also good exercise. You soon recover.

@JudyEv So one must be careful and have stamina to climb it. It can be tiring but it was a good exercise too.

It was worth the walk but it was a long way down - and seemed even further getting back up.

Can people swim in that water? There's a place in one of our national parks nearby called "The Sinks," where kids jump into the water off a ledge (not that tall of one, but taller than I care to look down from). It's just down from a waterfall. Looks like fun, but all I do is watch and admire the waterfall!

The scenery was very spectacular. We could see for miles and miles from the top.

Watching waterfalls does seem to wash away your worries, doesn't it?

Didn't want to jump into the water after the hike?
