A Year Without Concerts?

Those of you who know me, even casually, know how much I love music and going to concerts. Normally, about this time of year, I've been to 40 or so, and getting ready to hit my stride during the summer.
Not this year.
It's been a rough year for me, with my dad's death in February and my aunt's Alzheimer's taking a turn for the worse. Add to that my breathing and back have been giving me fits (the former is probably a psychological effect from the family stress) and I'm not going to be celebrating 2018 as one of my best years ever.
Therapy is helping my back, but my back has been "helping" me stay away from concerts. The problem is that many of the concerts I go to are at clubs that have limited, if any, seating. My back isn't too mad at me when I do things like sit or walk (just not too far and not too fast), but it really hates me standing.
Standing isn't good for the back to begin with, but add a bad back to the mix and you've got some bad pain.
My concert tally thus far this year is four shows: an "in-the-round" with Robyn Hitchcock and Peter Case; Dale Watson; and two Robbie Fulks. I've reached the point where I'm just not even buying tickets yet (I have missed ten shows that I've had tickets for this year, including Dale and Robbie), just adopting a "wait and see" attitude.
But you know? It's quite interesting that I'm not agonizing over it. I can't say "I don't miss it," because that's a big ol' honkin' fib. However, I "understand." I may have to go without concerts this year to get my back and breathing restored so I can return to the concerts next year!
Just can't wait....

Well at least you are smart enough to not go to it even with the pain. So gold star for you.

Ooh, a gold star!
Pain can provide a very convincing argument to not do something. With the family history of addictive behaviors I don’t want to get on pain pills for fear I may never get off of them.
And, let’s face it, not doing something is pretty darn easy!!!

Be careful though. Your Robbie and Dale fan club cards may be revoked.
