Migraine Yesterday

I had a migraine yesterday, it actually started on Tuesday about 2 pm and lasted till yesterday at about noon. I get them about once a month or so, and have been getting them for years. I also deal with headaches that just linger for days. I like when people say, "you should see a doctor" or "have you seen a doctor". Like I haven't went to a doctor after all these years. Of course I have, many actually. If you have ever had a real migraine you know the pain and discomfort and the disruption to life, how could you not go see a doctor. Here is the problem I am at now. I have seen so many doctors and nothing seems to help. They start with the take more caffeine, take less caffeine, cut stress out of your life, here take this drug, take that drug, take this and that drug, why are you taking that drug? I'm down to bread and water and they still think it something I am eating. LOL It just seems I spend a lot of money for nothing to change so I kind of gave up on going to the doctor. What I have learned is this, for sure to much time in the sun gives me a migraine, so I avoid being in the sun for to long and I always wear a hat when I am out. I don't eat chocolate or to spicy of foods cause they seem to trigger a migraine. I try to do daily stretching and walks to lower stress on the body in hopes that is helping. I wear sunglasses even if it is only a little bright out to avoid the bright light. Other than that I deal with it as best I can and hope I don't get a migraine. If you get them what do you do to try and avoid getting them?

I am so sorry and I know what you mean. My husband had constant migraines (day and night) for 16 months. I cannot count the number of doctors he visited. They said what you write (more caffeine, less caffeine, cut stress, do not stay too long at the computer...). Well, after months of suffering, the migraines disappeared as they had come. I wish you will feel better soon.

Thank you, yea it's been a good 10 years this has been going on. Most days I just deal with the headaches, it's just the full blown migraines that I can't deal with. Glad your husband got rid of them.

I had a bad headache Tuesday too, But it mostly was because I had been out in the sun awhile. I took some Motrin and my mother helped with placing her hand on my head.

I take two aspirin and two Tylenol tablets, drink plenty of water, go lay down and put a cold wet wash cloth over my forehead and try to chill out for a while. I take blood pressure meds and they help me a lot. If I drink lots of strong coffee then stop all of a sudden the next day I might get a bad headache that lasts for most of a day after. Only waiting it out helps. I don't enjoy television or reading when this happens. I don't go to the doctor. I know it will pass. My mother took BC Powder for her bad headaches. Rest and quite works best and the slow passage of time.

Yes, my bedroom has black out curtains and I lay down in the complete darkness and that does help the pain a bit.
