Hello, fellow mylotters!! Hope every one is having a good day!! One of our granddaughters was born with gastroschisis. After doing some research I found that it is " a birth defect in which the baby's intestines extend outside of the body through a hole next to the belly button." When she was born she had several surgeries. Apparently doctors told her to strengthen her stomach muscles she should be active with gymnastics and things. She was very active in gymnastics , swimming and dancing. Of course as a proud grandma I must brag about how she was GOOD at every thing she did!! Then they found out she had a hernia!! At the age of 9, she had to have surgery again. As a survivor, she went through surgery and she was so happy to get a "new" belly button!! She recently went to her checkup and every thing is good!! She can resume with swimming and gymnastics and dance!! Hopefully she won't need any more surgeries. ~Peace~

She will be alright and lead a normal life! I am a Vet and we get such cases in foals and it is one of the usual routine surgery we undertake and the foals after the surgery race and win the races as an adult! Wish your grand daughter all the best!
