Going Home After a Long Time

It was 4 years ago when I came to Australia as a student. I studied and work my way up into being a registered nurse in Oz.
I thought back then that leaving home was very hard and adjusting to a new place is tough. But now I realised that going to a new environment actually easy. The excitement of a new start fuels you to strive hard.
Leaving is actually harder. Just picking up your cluttered life and trying to put it all in one box or baggage is a different kind of sadness. Trying to decide which parts I want to keep and which parts I can chuck is so upsetting. I realised that no one wants to let go of something so easily no matter how bad or good it is.
I’m going home. I miss my family. But my heart feels heavy to leave this place I’ve learned to call home.

I hope things worked out well with your return to your original home.

@flapiz It seems that you prefer life in Australia as opposed to life in the Philippines? Are you hopping to return?

Where is "home" for you? Is it somewhere other than Australia?

@moffittjc Yes I am. I’m waiting for my visa decision. If it’s favourable I’ll go back to Australia. If not, then I’d probably go to New Zealand, UK, or Canada.

It is hard to leave a place you've adopted as your new home. I've had to do it twice because of family obligations. Good luck to you in your future endeavors. Where is your home btw?

In 1993 I came to Australia on a working holiday visa. I was able to work there at some times and I was getting rental money from my let out cottage. I loved it in Australia and I was very sad to leave it. It was 2000 when I visited Western Australia. By then I was 28 years old and I dreamed of moving to Australia permanently. Which is your home country?

I was working yes and applying for permanent residency at the same time. Unfortunately first application failed and so I have to go home. I put some of my things in a balikbayan box and some I left in my friend’s place as I still hope to go back.
