And they think I´m lazy.

Dear friends, this is a rant! All my life I have been called "lazy" by some members of my family. Part of the reason was that my husband was the main provider as money went. We always thought that it was a fair division of the job, according to our talents. When I could, I had my job at home. I did the house work, I sewed and knitted, I did the garden I crocheted beautiful patchwork covers for each bed. I can write down a long list that included teaching my children and helping them with their homework. When my husband was ill, I became his partner in his job while learning at the same time how to take care of him. I gave a long battle with death and he lived over 10 years more than what the doctors had said. Today I have been waiting my nephew for over an hour. I cannot shower, I cannot do anything as I just have to wait for him and I´m alone. Finally I asked my brother for his phone and called me. He told me that he was doing other things so he would not "bother" me in the morning. He "knew" that I got up very late. I told him to come immediately. Even if I wanted (which I don´t) Luna would want her breakfast. Dear friends: this is a rant. I´m sorry. But I DO NOT like to wait.

I do not think anyone would want to wait. Being at home does not mean you are lazy. I am at mom and too and there are many things to do. I bet that they cannot do what we can in a day, with the multi tasking and all.

Alvaro and I blamed it on his father when he arrived. But young people don´t use the phone for the right reasons.

OH my goodness. If anything he should have checked in with you to see when he should come over. That has to be annoying. You are not lazy at all! I get the same problem with my family and friends. Like housework and working online and all of this stuff is still work. Yes it is not physical labor, I don't need to be bagging groceries or hauling lumber. But you are still contributing to society. You are a functional human being. It isn't like you are sitting and watching soap operas all day complaining about your life. Absolutely not! You are amazing!

Until I was diagnosed with a lymphoma and had chemotherapy, I did everything at home, including the garden. And for a long time, I even painted the house and put on wallpaper. My husband knew it was work. Then, when he was ill, I did every administrative work he needed done and many times I stayed up until 3 am. I was not "paid" though.

@DesirousDreamer It is easier to look at what other people might do wrong than to look at your own faults.

@marguicha No one has a right to call you lazy. You have done enough, more than most people will ever have to deal with.

From what you have described there in your opening paragraph - how on earth could anyone call you lazy?

Some people in my family thought that I should work for money. I stopped doing what I most liked as a job to help my husband in the last years of his life.

Housewives are not lazy people. They also have to do a lot of work. Very few get appreciation for it.

I have done my share of working in my life. I am retired now because I am old and don´t have a good health.

Just because you asked for help they dared to say things. Best is to depend on friends.

No. My nephew did not say that. But my mother did, because I did not work as her other children.

I hate waiting too, it is so annoying. Better to deal directly with your nephew and skip his father.

It is part of what should be changed. My husband knew that I was not lazy. But my own mother didn´t, although she never worked out of her house.
