Hi mylotters. Today's topic is close to my heart as I have faced this problem since childhood when people use to pronounce my name wrongly. It's so irritating and exhausting to correct people every time when they pronounce your name wrongly. Do you feel irritated by it too? What you think about it?

If others say my name wrong, I will not be happy. But considering he didn't mean it, I'll forgive it.

people rarely pronounce my name incorrectly because my name is very common. but they always spell it incorrectly!!! :D haha if it isnot a document that is of value, i rarely correct the spelling. but if its a government documentation etc i will surely have it corrected right away to avoid future concerns.

Not much, especially to those who don't personally know me. My surname was often pronounced jokingly by the people I know. But I don't mind, those are close friends.

Now I have a common surname that I everyone from my country is able to pronounce. Before I got married I had an unusual surname. Many people pronounced it the wrong way and when I introduced myself on the phone many people misunderstood my name or asked me to spell it. It was a little annoying sometimes. I think it is nice to have a common name now.

if they mispronounce and misspell my nickname, i shrug it off. if they mispronounce my first name, i don't mind, either. only when they misspell my first name in anything important/official will i react and correct.

It doesn't bother me. I tell people, "Call me anything you want, just don't call me late for dinner."
