1989 – Marvel – Spoiler alerts Peter (Spiderman) Parker is deeply distressed by the death of his former lover, Gwen Stacey, and also the loss of what he had assumed was her clone. These events occurred in previous adventures. Stacey’s recreation was not cloning a Parker assumed but a viral experiment that Parker suspects also created a supervillain called Carrion. The villain was killed by Spiderman, and now he wonders exactly what his origins might have been. Carrion kills people just by touching them so Parker had to stay clear of the monster’s hands. Parker finds answers in a book hidden by the mad scientist responsible for the viral experiments, just as a student at the same university finds a test tube containing the viral agents and accidentally turns himself into the new Carrion. Spiderman easily defeats the confused new entity and arranges to get the virus neutralized. Parker feels that he has now finally put the questions about the second Gwen Stacey aside. The whole comic feels like it just exists to tie up loose ends apart from a misleading opening sequence in which arch villain, The Kingpin loses several of hi gangsters when they are attacked and killed by a werewolf during a bank heist. This is obviously a set up for future stories as it is not referred to again and really just masks the pedestrian pace of the rest of this very disappointing story. Arthur Chappell

I guess the name Carrion is perfect for such a super villain. Did you watch the last Spiderman movie?
