Day 23 Mark 9:1 Mark 9:1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. 2 And after six days Jesus took with him Peter, and James, and John, and led them up into a high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. 3 And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them. 4 And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus. 5 And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 6 For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid. 7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. 8 And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves. 9 And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead. 10 And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean. 11 And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elias must first come? 12 And he answered and told them, Elias verily comes first, and restores all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at naught. 13 But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him. What is the most spectacular thing you’ve seen in your life? When you told someone about it, did they believe you? Or did they need to experience it for themselves? Jesus took three disciples up a high mountain and was transformed before them. His clothes became whiter than anything man could do to make them that way. Then before their eyes stood Isaiah and Moses talking with him. Nobody knew what to say, though Peter said it was good to be there and they should build three tents for them. However, even he became silent when God told them Jesus was his Son. When the moment was over, Jesus told them not to say anything about what they saw until he had risen from the dead, something they still didn’t understand. As Christians, you can look back and see how everything that happened, happened for a reason. Jesus showed them his true self in the transfiguration, and God confirmed that he was not just a prophet like Isaiah and Moses who stood with him. Nor was he a man who could do wonders, but he was his Son, God in the flesh, and they needed to listen to what he said. Has God done something so amazing in your life, showing his deity to you in a way that it no longer brought questions, or just the opposite brought more questions of a different nature? The questions you had were answered, but more questions came out of the experience, more particular – Why me? What were you to do with the information you received? Would anyone believe you? Jesus knew no one would believe the disciples until after his resurrection, when they did tell the account of what happened on the mountain. God knows what it will take for someone to believe your experience. The most important thing God told the disciples was that they were to listen to him. That is still the most important thing you are to do as well. Listen to him, wait on him, and allow him to work his will in your life, bringing everything to light at the proper time. Let’s pray: Father, make yourself so real in my life that I will have no doubts or fears about anything. Help me listen and wait on you and your timing, while you work your will in my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 29 July 2018 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

It may not seem like a big deal to others, but to me it is. What God has done to or for me is show me how to survive.
