Do Not Grill Fish or Meat Using Foil

Are you fond of grilling fish or meat? It is said that if you wrap the fish or meat in foil, there are toxic chemicals from the aluminum foil that is released and absorbed by the food. If one will always eat food heated in aluminum foil, it is likely he will develop cancer. So when grilling, better use banana leaves or just do not remove the scales of the fish so it won't burn, or put the iron grill higher and not too close to the fire for even cooking.

Yes, putting the fish or meat in a foil; to grill it is a health hazard. We use the banana leaf to wrap a fish to grill. The grilled fish becomes more delicious when it's wrapped in banana leaf.

@acelawrites Yes, that is true. In other countries, they don't have banana leaves.

@SIMPLYD banana leaves are now sold in the US at health stores. The husk of corn is also a good alternative to banana leaves.

We are lucky to have such alternative, like using banana leaves fro grilling or wrapping food.It really makes food tastier with its flavor.

Usually I only see people using banana leaves to wrap the food and burn it on charcoal.

@acelawrites yes, the foil will take centuries to decay properly

It is good; also good for the environemtn because there will be less foil that ends up in dumpsites/landfill.

Thanks for sharing that! We heard that foil was bad, too, but never use it when we grill. Actually, my husband is grilling steaks tonight. No foil.

Grilled steaks are good, and it is such a happy moment when families are around.

i grill fish or meat directly, and not wrap it with aluminum foil. only when it is already cooked, then i place the grilled food in a steel elongated plate.

@acelawrites indeed, we have to help in our own little way, to reduce pollution and maintain a fresh air and environment

It is good to use, because the food's flavor is enhanced by the taste of the banana leaf. But it may not be available in other places.

There's no reason to use foil on the grill. Food won't stick.

Foil is never used in anything I eat. Don't some people put foil on baked potatoes?
