Time Capsules and Typos

If a star happens to get damaged or defaced on the Hollywood Walk of Fame it is the responsibility of the city of Los Angeles to make the repairs since it is a public sidewalk. To make sure the payments can be made the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce raises money through a program called “Friends of the Walk of Fame”. Another organization that assists is The Hollywood Historic Trust and the Hollywood Entertainment District employs a private cleaning company to keep things looking in top shape.
In 2010 as part of the 50th Anniversary of the Walk of Fame a time capsule was buried at the place where the walk originated, the corner of Hollywood and Highland. The popular game show host Bob Barker was on hand to help bury the capsule. Inside the capsule are items that commemorate this landmark and Barker’s note reminding people to spay and neuter their pets. It is set to be opened in 2060.
At this time the three members of the Dern-Ladd family – Bruce Dern, Diane Ladd and Laura Dern all received their stars. The family with the most stars a total of six goes to the Barrymore family. One star each for John, Ethel, John Drew, Drew and two for Lionel.
Everything is not always perfect on the Walk of Fame and there have been typos like in 1992 when Dick Van Dyke’s last name was written Vandyke. There is greater confusion when similarly named stars have their names misspelled. In 1960 actor Don Haggerty got his star but it read Dan Haggerty and the real Dan Haggerty, star of “Grizzly Adams” only got is a star in 1994. Luckily the typos get picked up quickly.
If Hollywood stars want to make a big deal of their promotion or if they want to have their ceremony at a special time then once they are nominated they have a five-year time limit to schedule their ceremonies.
An amusing thought came to mind. In 2060 when that time capsule gets opened I can imagine people saying Barker who? and suppose at that time people all have robopets? What are your thoughts on this?

I suppose one must think carefully about the contents of a time capsule. I had not thought much about who does the repair and maintenance on the walk of fame. It looks like you have done your homework.
