I'm going to be a "Carnie"

Well MyLot, that's it. I've decided to run away and be a "Carnie". (For those who don't know the slang, it is a term meaning a carnival worker.)
No. Not really. My friend and I occasionally joke about buying one of those mega big rides and traveling to different fairs and circuses though.
On one hand I think it would be fun. To me - fairs, carnivals, city festivals and the like are like a small amount of magic. People and the community come together, there's laughter, entertainment, lights, and fair food, glorious glorious fair food. Things to see, places to go, and people watching.
Of course - there's the less than nice too. There can be fights, too much of a crowd, germs, and messes.
In reality, those who know my personality would realize I would make a really bad "Carnie". Carnies are known to hard-sell their product - be it a ride or a game. Me? I would probably get hustled into giving away free rides or something like that. I just don't have the personality for it.
I did see this ride at the fair this year. It's called RockStar and if my friend and I really did it, I would want it to be this ride with it's rock and roll theme. :-)
ROCK STAR is a exhilarating 360-degree, full rotation family thrill ride providing 22 passengers with a rock and rollicking good time. Available in both park and portable models.

I am not a sales person either. I would not mind following the fairs and enjoying the different towns.

@FayeHazel Hummm, I see having a customer take a dollar chance at the arcade games is not going to be enough for you
Hey, why not go for whatever you can get....

@FayeHazel I recommend the first three to four seasons. After that, if you don't feel the world is too bleak keep watching. My sister and brother-in-law have seen all 14 seasons. I had one too many end of the worlds. It's kind of fun to watch and see how many guest stars have big careers now.

I am too much of an introvert to ever think that I could be a carnie.
It woudl be nice to travel from fair to fair, but I'd rather be in the background.

In reality , I am too. Unless, maybe, I could just operate the ride or something....
being the background is a lot less draining, I agree.

Sounds like an interesting prospect if you could make it a reality. I too love the atmosphere of carnivals and fairs.

My dad ran off once with the carnival when he was a kid, he did not talk about that much. I used to be there every night when it was in town, some of the guys that ran the rides always gave me and my little sister free rides after the first day when we paid. Those were fun years of my past.
Dream it, do it!
