My love/hate relationship with the DMV

After having cataract surgery last week, I don't need to wear glasses to drive. Yay!
But my driver's license still shows that I'm restricted to glasses, so if I got stopped by a policeman or got into an accident, I could be held responsible for not having the glasses on.
I can see better without the glasses now than I can with them.
So, I went to our county courthouse to the DMV office (Department of Motor Vehicles) to renew my driver's license, get a new photo, and to take off the restriction about eye glasses.
I went yesterday, drove 12 miles, walked in the door and saw there were fourteen people ahead of me! Sure didn't have time to wait.
Drove home, went back up there today. Nobody waiting, but found out there's a new type of license required now. It has a gold star which entitles clearance to board air planes, federal buildings, military bases, and nuclear power plants. Yeah, those power plants are my next vacation destination.
So....I came back home. Again. I have to find my Social Security card, my birth certificate, my marriage certificate (!), and two forms of ID in order to get my gold star license.
At least I can make an appointment, so I won't have to wait behind 89 other people trying to get their gold star.
In the mean time, I still have to wear those glasses.
Does your state or country require any such mess as this?
To be continued....

I think so. It's not that my vision is at a critical level with the glasses, but I can definitely see better without them. But can't take a chance getting stopped and not having the glasses on.
