There are many times in my life when I an enjoying doing an activity such as cooking, sewing, crocheting or even just watching tv, that those that I love come to mind. The fondest memory of my mother is when I was young and she took the time to crochet a throw blanket for me. After she gave it to me, I asked her to teach me how to crochet, so she took the time to teach me and then gave me some books on learning the basic steps. At the time I was around 13 or 14 years old. At the time I did not know I would only have a few more years to spend with my mother. My mother passed away when I was 20 years old. As some people already know and some will one day, time goes on, as you get older and are raising your kids and also working, you don't have a lot of extra time on your hands. So I quit crocheting until my kids were grown and I retired, now I have all the time in the world. So every time that I crochet it reminds my of the times I spent with my mother, I just got done with the throw in the picture, I always wanted to do like my mother did and make one for my daughter. I think it will make a great Birthday gift. Do any of you do things that remind you of someone special?

Yes, life goes on and time goes on! We were very poor at one time and my mother would buy fruits that were starting to go bad so that we could have something to eat. So, every time I have a fruit that is starting to go bad, I cut out the bad part and eat the rest and remember her doing that for us.

@sweetashoney I'm sure you would think of your mom. It will be nice to be with them again, one day, in a world of plenty.

Oh yea,Hope, My mother would go without a meal just to make sure we had enough to eat. Three's one thing about though, I haven't had a potted meat sandwich since I was young, but I bet if I did I would think of my mother, we had to eat a lot of them. lol

I really enjoyed reading your post and can definitely relate to doing things that remind us of ones we love. With my Mom, we always baked cookies and other treats together for the holidays. With my Dad, he taught me how to play golf and I think of the many wonderful times we had playing together.

Thank you DB, I'm glad you enjoyed it, always treasure those memories. I know some people that never spend time with their parents, but when their gone you always heart hem say how much they miss them.
