Im asking this from the bottom of my heart, I know im not the only one who celebrates their dogs birthdays and if so why judge? I was a little upset yesterday because someoene made an insesitive comment on my instagram page all because I was celebrating my good dog Sams birthday. The comment was something like, Thats weird why are buying your dog a cake its just a dog not a person. I was bothered and said what I had to say but how is that weird? My dog Sam is part of my family and I love her like one of my kids. How is it weird to celebrate your dogs birthday?

I don't think it's weird. Some people think dogs are just animals and don't realize to us they are one of our babies!

@BACONSTRIPSXXX They do but they are people who think dogs belong outside too.

They must of never had a dog, and it is like another family member in the house so she gets equal treatment and love

Those are comments from people who never had connection with dog and dont know how strong can it be. Either way, like you said why to judge? As far as you ask me it's none of their buissness will you or will you not celebrate your dogs birthday. Nothing wrong with it or weird.

Don't let these people bring you down or make you feel upset, its none of their business not unless they are the ones spending for your dog's party. Of course you had the freedom to post, they had the freedom to express their view and you have the freedom to let them know how you feel in what they said or you also have the freedom to ignore them, ball's on your court.

It's not at all weird, we celebrated the birthday of the dog of my niece. Our pets are part of the family.

No there's nothing wrong in celebrating your pets birthday. If you don't want to get such comments, don't post these kinds of events on social media platforms.

@MALUSE I get that too, but to call a family member just a dog is insensitive

@MALUSE I think Sam was pretty happy and wether she appreciates it or not she knew it wasnt a ordinary day since the kids were all over her and once she had a her pound cake the look on her eyes was of happiness etc

It is not weird at all, my friend. Ignoring those kind of remarks sometimes is the best thing to do.

Some people need more reasons to buy a cake.Sometimes the dog likes opening paper wrapped gifts.

Happy Happy birthday, pup! This reminds me of the time when I picked a kitten off the busy highway. (He was fine, just 6 to 8 weeks old and should not have been there). Anyway, I told a lady about picking the kitten up and she said: "Cats are a dime a dozen!" In other words, why bother to rescue the kitten?? Because the kitten is life. Precious life. So is your pup. He is precious and for sure give him a birthday cake. Another of my cats is called Sonny James. I suppose I am weird cause I sometimes sing to him, Sonny Jamison- he is a son to me. A beloved son who happens to be in a cat form.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX His name is Fred! The local animal shelter here is very poor. I didn't have the heart to dump the kitten there so he stays with me. I did get him neutered.

I agree and you pratically saved that kittens life with your kind of act of pulling over to rescue it

no it's not weird. I actually read a blog where you can get ideas about celebrating your pet's birthdays. I don't know when Lily's (my cat) birthday is so I don't exactly celebrate her birthday.

I am surprised you received such a comment because we live in a dog crazy world where people have birthday parties for their dogs.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX I want you to know that those that say things like that person do not understand how much furry ones bring to our lives. We show them how much we care by celebrating their birthday. I did it for my dog when she was alive and my cat and now for my Sophie. She just turned 4. I spent the day playing with her. They are very important to us so one way of showing our love for them to celebrate their birth with them. You continue to do it.
