I suddenly thought about cantaloupe. It is a luscious sweet melon. I remembered the days of my childhood when we bought cantaloupes from the fields. I think they were three for a dime for the little ones. I wish I had some right now. What is your favorite summer fruit? Do you want some now?

I like melons, we have the Galia and the Charentais here and they are delicious. I like peaches and nectarines more than melons.

@akalinus The Charentais is one of the best, but I do not believe that from France they are sent to the United States.

@LadyDuck I don't ever remember having melon called Charentais. The name does sound French, though.

My favorite summer fruits in no particular order are: cherries, peaches, cantaloupes, watermelons, tomatoes. Actually, I have no favorite, whatever is available I ill eat. I could easily pass for a fruitarian.

@akalinus I know! I can only afford then and buy them only when they are on sale which is a few times a year.

@1hopefulman I hear that. Now they cost $3 or $4 or more. It is a long way from three for ten cents.

I don't have a problem with any of those. Delicious eating all summer. Cherries are wickedly expensive, though.

@Mavic123456 You should eat the fruit you like best. It sounds like you don't like cantaloupe.

What to do for this fruit
@akalinus (44366)

@theend I guess you could use the seeds instead of throwing them away. I don't have room to grow melons.

You cut it in half and scoop out the seeds and throw them away. Then cut into slices the way you like. Or use a spoon to eat the fruit from the half. Some people put ice cream in the middle but you are only limited by your imagination.
