Never Know What You'll See at the Fair!

Today was my day to go to the fair. According to the pedometer on my phone I walked 5.3 miles. I'm not feeling it all that much, simply because I walked at my pace (not on a treadmill), and whenever I got tired I did what any rational person would do: I sat down. (Can't do that on a treadmill!)
The fair really hasn't changed all that much in my adult life (as I mentioned this morning). I have a "routine" that I've worked up over the years, and I pretty much stuck to it this year. A local therapeutic massage school has a booth at the fair every year, and I always stop by for a massage. (That'll help keep your back from hurting during a five-mile walk!) I visited the home repair booths and picked up cards to see about getting a window sash fixed. I stayed far away from the religion and political booths. And, I made a point to stop by all the police booths and thank them.
Two things were on my list to buy this year, and I got both. First I went to a cap/hat booth and got some Navy caps. They had a special, three for $20, so I picked up three. Secondly, on the way out I stopped by the pineapple whip stand to get a pineapple whip in memory of my dad. He loved those things, and the last time he went to the fair (I took him, two years ago), we stopped there and I bought him one.
Amid all the things on display in the various counties of Kentucky exhibition was a snake. Yes, a real, live snake. A python. They caught him, the man handling him said, at Mammoth Cave. He was quite docile, and I rubbed him. The man said the snake's name was Clyde. Personally, I think it should have been Monty.
The picture above is the snake. Where else can you get comfortably up close and personal with a snake? I wouldn't want to do it in the wild by ANY stretch, but I figured he had to kill the guy holding him first!

No performers at the fair? Not even local acts?

Tonight is the "Happy Together" tour with Flo & Eddie, Ron Dante, the Association, the Cowsils, and one of the vocalists from Three Dog Night.

I would touch a python that is being handled by anyone under any circumstances. Nice story.
