A poem will be published

I rarely write about politics here, bad idea, I think. So, I will not post a poem I wrote that will be published in an anthology of Oregon writers. The call for submissions came through our state Poetry Association website on June 1st. "The subject will be your reaction to the current political milieu, bigotry, climate change, immigration or other recent events that impact people in general..."
Then, when children began being separated from their parents at our southern border sometime in July, when tweets became more outrageous and self-aggrandizing, when my resentment boiled over, I dashed off a four verse poem, then recalled the request for submissions and, on a whim, sent it in.
Night before last, I got an email that said my poem will be included in the anthology. I am surprised and pleased.
I won't make anything out of it and that's okay. After expenses, all proceeds will go to one of my favorite causes, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

It's not that kind of a site. Publisher is small town Oregon. You bet I will buy it though.

@TheHorse Yeah, I'm not sure how many poems will be in it, but the cause is a good one.

@JamesHxstatic - I am so proud of you! To have your poem included in an anthology which supports the ACLU is a tremendous honor! Good for you. I have been after Janet (@JaboUK) for years to publish her poetry for free in a book using Amazon's CreateSpace. I'm sure it would find a few buyers. I know I would love a copy!

That's great. I guess you got poems done at one go and said what you wanted to say in them.

Congratulations. I have not seen any of your poetry here.
I like to write on what interests me and that includes politics.
However, I do not go on the offensive to buttress my stand.
I agree many keep away from politics here as it can be emotional - siva

Thanks very much.

Congratulations on getting your poem published. I think you are right in not posting politics here. It seems like people can't disagree in a calm fashion any more
