A Gas Station?

We went to a museum today!
We thoroughly enjoyed the displays, but I've learned my limits, so I only read the markers that really interest me or pique my curiosity.
An old newspaper article (circa1998) caught my eye.
We took the time to read about this unique gas station.....hmmmmm.....is it still around?
A quick google revealed its location....and yes.....it's still there!
The map revealed that a small detour would bring us past.....
We stopped, we took pictures....as a bonus we found a geocache on the property.
Have you ever seen this gas station?

You are visiting your sister in NC aren't you?
I know exactly where that is, and rode by it with a friend not two months ago now.

@Morleyhunt There are lots of little treasures across this county. I am sure your sister will show them all to you. One of my favorites are the gardens at Reynolda.
Of course, Old Salem is always fun to visit as well.

I haven't, but I have seen a few unique stations in my day. They used to look cool in the old days before everything was cookie cutter the same.

I know there is an interesting one in Port Colborne Ontario. I wish someone would restore it.

It was a gas station, many years ago. Now it is an attractive piece of history that someone has taken the time to restore and maintain,

Never saw it before. Not even a picture. Interesting building. Incidentally, the kids found a geocache near our place here by accident. It is hard to access during parts of the year.

I may make it out that way to find that cache. I've found a few in Sackville...but haven't looked for that many yet.

The history was interesting. It, along with seven other "shells" were built in the '30's. This one is the only one left. It closed as a gas station in the '50's and was restored in the '90's.

I'm wondering if that station actually dispenses gasoline? But what really got me about your post is you speaking of an article published in 1998 as an "old" newspaper article. It's hard to believe that that was 20 years ago.

This gas station does not dispense gasoline. It actually closed for business in the '50s.
The newspaper clipping was hanging in the transportation museum. It most certainly couldn't be classed as current events....so I called it an old newspaper article.

It hasn't served gas since the '50's . Someone restored it in the late '90's.
