Too Much Hypocrisy in Politics

In my younger years, I thought of joining politics. This is in the smallest unit of the government. I then believe that I would be able to help people especially those who needed with much attention. I believe that by having a position in the government, I’ll be able to touch the lives of the people and would become an instrument in the development and delivering services in various sectors. Things were different now. Over the years, I’ll just discovered that some politicians (if not all) were not sincere with their platforms and it changes my view. Yes, they’re there making projects and programs but what bothers me most is these politicians have their fair share of corruptions also. Some of them played unfairly to get the position that they want. So what’s the problem with our political system? I don’t know how the situations of politics vary from country-to-country but I guess there’s always this issue of corruption. There may be few that are genuine and still follow their conscience. Do you think joining politics is a mess?

people from media, sports and showbiz who venture into politics all say it's worse than their former field. were you thinking of being a councilor? had you pushed through with it, would you have been the first in your family to be in politics/be a public servant?

@hereandthere I think that it's also good to help directly if you have the resources. I just think of those government programs intended for people. It's not from their pocket and they are just instrument.

Here, when you join politics, you will be besieged with accusations of doing things bad even if they weren't true. Mud slinging becomes a habit of politicians just to discredit others. So sad, but that is true. As to corruption, almost all politicians becomes rich in a matter of a year of two or even after many months. Politicians are being gunned down by their adversaries in politics. So, if you are a simple person, don't go into politics.

@ZedSmart Me too, I never want to have a troubled life and afraid of going out without bodyguards. Even if you are so kind a politician, there will always be people who will be jealous and wants your position.

@SIMPLYD That's true. There are many things to put in consideration before joining politics. I think that one must strong enough to deal everything that is unfavorable.

Very good observation and I believe these are happening. It's discouraging because your political nemesis will dig deeper to pin you down. I'd no longer interested to become because I want to live simply in harmony and at peace.

Definitely politics really are dirty. Those who play clean usually do not survive long no matter people elects them they would eventually be succumbed to it over time or someone who is more corrupt will find ways to overpower him.

@ZedSmart Ideally everyone should participate and try to meddle in politics so that development is implemented clean and honest. The more the people becomes uninterested and let politicians do their work alone the more they are tempted to be corrupted. But with people's participation the politicians are forced to deliver since all eyes are on him and he needs votes on next election.

You have a good point and it's true. If we want peace in our life, we should not take part on this.

@rsa101 It's more dangerous when everyone is silent. There's should be transparency as well as check and balance. At the end of the day, the people's welfare should not be put to uncertainty.

Yes I think so mess because it can cause the number of Mental Hospital patients to increase, divisions within the family increasingly widespread, provocation, intimidation and anarchism also do not want to miss taking part.

If they are all the same, we can't stop them from being there. Let's just hope that there's the lesser evil.

nobody in our family went through the politics way of life, although my father (when he was still alive and working) was one of the 'sangguniang pangkapayapaan' here in our barrio.

Good thing he never runs for office. But, I still believe that there are still few individuals out there that were not totally corrupted by the system. I just wonder if they're truly after for serving the people and not for the benefits they get. Priests are even running for positions.

You have to be strong to be a politician also conceited, narcissistic, be a good loser, accept rejection, etc. You are better off doing things for other people wherever you live---country, town, city--work behind the scenes. I have for over 67 years as a 'follower' and got a lot accomplished.
