Fighting with the Nicer Dicer.

Today, among the things I bought, I finally decided to buy a Nicer Dicer.
The idea is to have small dices of onions, potatoes, carrots you name it. You can also slice, grate and do other things with a minimum effort.
This evening, alone, I decided to start an eggplant pickle. The first part was to dice and caramelize onions so I fetched my new toy.
There were 2 sizes of dices and I preferred the smallest. BIG MISTAKE! I would have had to buy an elephant to sit on the gadget to make the onion go through the holes. So, after some time and cursing, I used the bigger holes. Fortunately, after caramelizing the onion dices, they did not look so big.
Tomorrow I´ll dice the eggplant. Wish me luck. Although that, too can be done bigger and will look smaller when cooked.
Leticia, who is wiser than I, told me why should I buy that if she could dice onions and other veggies as small as I wanted. But the truth is that we are not getting any younger and maybe in the future we will have to rely in these thingies.
What do you think about new kitchen gadgets? Do you buy some, once in a while?

@LadyDuck This one works quite well once you learn to use it.

@marguicha I have one that is almost identical, only it's 40 years old.
I bought it here in Switzerland during a trip, it still works fine, but there are things that are faster if chopped with a knife.

@marguicha Those things get on my nerves when I notice that I am wasting more time than using traditional old stuff.

I have never purchased one of those kitchen gadgets that are shown on television. The only I saw on television was on the sitcom "Sanford and Son" where Fred Sanford bought one and Fred was angry that the salesman sold him a defective device, I know it is a comedy and I should take with a grain of salt.

Every once in a while I fall for one of these things, specially for the kitchen. I have to forget the disappointment before I buy another one

I´m beginning to like this one. I made an eggplant pickle with less effort than if I had done it by hand.

Though I use kitchen gadgets I prefer dicing certain things like onions, greens, etc.

After this first try, I discovered that the onion dices should be bigger. But I still hope that dicing eggplants and zucchini will take minutes
