… from playing the first round, and I mean Mr. Ferrer who was the opponent of Rafael Nadal during the first round game in US Open. It was this morning that a history of Arthur Ashe as the first African-American to win a tennis open in 1965 was presented on Fox Sports. I am sorry if the years and dates are not correct, but I was engrossed in listening to and watching the documentary, until Nadal’s game against Ferrer who is also a Spaniard started. Nadal won the first set. Second set, while Nadal was playing fiercely, his opponent Ferrer seemed to have muscle cramps that the sidecourt doctor gave him some massage, until he finally retired from the play. Although that is an automatic win for Nadal, I think he wished to have played in order to get the first round successfully. He was sorry for Ferrer, but Rafa is now through to the 2nd round.

It is a pity when a good match has to end for medical issues @ridingbet . But well done to Nadal for progressing.

@ridingbet yes I am sure Nadal would have preferred a whole match.

yes, it is so heartbreaking when one player gives up the game because of pains in his system, and i bet Nadal did not want to win by default like what happened during the 1st round of US Open

Hmm... Ferrer is getting old. Need to think of retirement, I mean on his career and not on 2nd round.
