Gift for a Debutante.

Hello everyone.
A few days from now, I will be attending an 18th birthday party. The girl is the daughter of a co-parent in school of my daughter. We (the parents) have been working together on some school projects as part of the Parent-School Association for 4-5 years now.
Though I experience having a debut party, at this time and age, there seems no idea going through my mind of what kind of gift should I give to the birthday girl. I know that she is a very down to earth girl and I know they can afford most of the things they would like. So now, that gives me more a hard time of thinking what gift could I give her.
Any suggestions dear friends would be appreciated dearly.

@rakski maybe after she graduates, she can apply and work as a flight attendant first, save her salary, then enroll in flight school.

during my time, birthday presents including graduation gifts were photo albums. but when i attended a birthday celebration of a co-staff nurse in Kuwait, many of my colleagues presented the birthday celebrator with live palmera plants.

@rakski i gave 2 of my colleagues in Kuwait with palmera plants in pots. they were not able to bring it home enough because of the gulf war.

i like anna's birthstone suggestion. aside from necklace or bracelet, maybe earrings, rings, or a watch.
