I can't Sleep

The last week or so has been rough I get maybe three or four hours of sleep a night. I can't shut down my mind and my body itches and hurts. I can't put my head on a pillow because my hair hurts.
I sit up half the night watching youtube videos.
Do you have any hints about how to get to sleep and stay asleep? Do you ever have a problem like mine? Please share.

Even when things are going rough, I tend to sleep well. I usually read in bed and put my book or magazine down when things go blurry or I'm reading the same paragraph over and over. If I need a little "help," I might take a Benadryl, as Benadryl knocks me out. I can't take it during the day or I'm a zombie by mid-afternoon.

Have you considered taking Melantonin (I might be spelling that wrong)? Or getting some "sleepytime tea" ?
If you can turn off all entertainment an hour before you go to bed, and either read, or attend to light chores, it should help you wind things down as well

@akalinus I've read that those type things can be more of a distraction. I know that everyone is different, but t.v. stimulates my mind instead of getting it to shut down.

I usually can stay sleep. But last night I was hot and I kept thinking about the book I'm reading. I used to read boring parts of the bible to help me sleep.

Maybe take Bendryl before bed? Itching? sounds like an allergy, maybe to new washing liquid?
You could come and help me mow all this grass, its a guaranteed good nights sleep.

I take Gabapentin for nerve damage but the doctor wants me not to take it if I can help it.
Thankfully, I don't have to do yard work anymore. The park does it and we pay for it with an increase in the rent. It makes me break out. I had to keep that hedge trimmed. Thank goodness, it is gone, I asked someone to cut it down.
