i am the type who spends below my means. . The best tip i could convey to others is "Only buy things that you needed and not what you wanted."

very nice advice. i heard a lot of my friends complain about their debts, and i wanted to say, if you just bought what you needed i dont think you would go through the said problem.

absolutely!!!! and Holy Hannah, it's freaking brutal making the switch!!! At the same time, I'm teaching my kids to live frugal, maintain their savings accounts, discuss finances freely with them, etc. That way, kids are aware, and hubby's aware, and we all pull together as a family.

We are retired so it's important that we don't spend too much. We don't buy anything that isn't essential although occasionally we'll treat ourselves to something a bit special. We buy almost everything on credit card but pay it off fully each month.

I have always believed it wise to live below my means as I feel good that all my bills are paid every month. I have less anxiety this way.

I'm fairly new to frugal living, actually, it took me a few months to get things stable, and I'm still learning but it can be done. I used to live above my means (do to iinfluences from friends) but circumstances forced me to put my foot down, learn how to say no, break financial relationships, and now I'm living below my means. I'm 41 years old and for the first time in my adult life i have a savings account. While it may not seem a big deal to most people, but for me it's a step in the right direction. How I live frugally is to be MINDFUL....ya, I know I capitalised that word but seriously, I cannot stress this enough. Be mindful of what you purchase, of the subscriptions you are subscribed to, hidden fees, using up what you have, anything along those lines.

Yes because even if we buy just what we need still, we really can’t set aside for our savings
