I was tired of just staying at home. Hubby still is tired, but loves to go for drives. He had seen this courthouse before, but I had not. It is in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. It is made from native limestone and walnut interior wood. I would love to tour it someday.Yesterday was Labor Day so it would not have been open. I love the red metal roofing and the iron work on the top. I will perhaps find information to share in the comments about the history of the building. I tried to take pictures of the historic sign, but I do not believe they are readable.

Looks a bit french to me I used to go on many pointless rides when I had motorbikes...in a car I find I just drive if I have to get somewhere.

Yes, they said it was French something or other style. That is why I want to find the details to wake up my brain.

There are so many things around here built of native limestone. I love seeing the buildings, big and small.

Thank you for doing my leg work. My photo of the historical marker sign is not nearly so clear as on this website. I learned a lot yesterday.

We haven't done it for a while but we used to go for drives round the area when we first came to live here.

We used to do it a lot more. Not so much since we moved. I think hubby's job wore him out. We have been in this area for almost three years now, and it is time to do more exploring.

@GardenGerty We did a lot more exploring once we started having the odd backpacker staying (as a couch-surfer). We felt we should take them around a bit so of course discovered a lot of things that we hadn't known about before.

Remember when gas was cheap? Pointless drives were the norm. Did you have a feeling of nostalgia?

We used to drive a little car that got 40 mpg. Hubby is restoring another one like it. Driving around seems to be our biggest vice. Yes, it did make me feel nostalgic for when we were newly weds.

That is a magnificent old building! I love looking at old buildings and love hopping in the car with my husband and going for aimless drives in the countryside or along the beach. We usually take the convertible, but it's been too hot for it lately.

That looks like it would be a church, instead of a courthouse, to me. Interesting.

It was a good time to see the area and just talk. Kansas has some absolutely gorgeous court houses. I believe this is the oldest one still in use.
