Today's Writing Assignment

It's been two weeks since I was in the pool and I felt it this morning. I also worked out in the fitness center. I barely got on here when my eyelids began to droop. I just woke from a 3-hour nap. I can feel every unused muscle from the past two weeks.
When I went back to bed, I had an idea for the writing assignment, for the words I mentioned in the last post. Here they are again: mano a mano, schlock, and cul-de-sac.
Here's the 96 word down from 124 assignment I just finished.
-- At the end of the cul-de-sac stood a home looking eerily like the Adams Family home. It sat behind a stone wall, beyond which looked like a jungle of trees, plants, and shrubs.
Taking a deep breath, I determined to go there. We, the neighborhood watch, was having a back to school fundraiser and wanted everyone’s help. It was called mano a mano – or hand to hand project.
My parents called them a schlock, an evil nuisance. I was ready to agree as I resolved to go through the stone wall and knock on the door. --
It sounds like the start of another book, this one a thriller, which kind I don't normally write. I would probably turn the people in that house into a very nice family. Then again, since it would be a book, probably an alien story, now that would be fun. In reality, it probably won't bear any fruit beyond today's Writer's Guild.
Okay, now to do battle with the notifications that came in during my nap. The sun came out and looks like it will be a nice day, however, it's deceptive as another round of storms is due this afternoon into tomorrow.
Do you have any plans for today? Thanks for reading.

I have no real plans, just enjoying my newly restored Internet. My mother and I can get back to watching our show on Netflix (Heartland.) I hope you have a great rest of the day. I would love it if you wrote a thriller, I love them!

One day during the Untitled Town Book and Author Fest here in Green Bay back in April, I wandered into the museum's gift shop and found a box called Word Teasers. I thought it would be perfect for our group, and it is. We each select three words from the box each month and use those words as the writing prompt for our 100 word writing assignment.
Thank you. I'm glad you liked it.

These are interesting. Right now just sitting here relaxing and posting here for a bit, and then later hope to go out and do some Uber Eats and earn some extra $$.
