My funicular experience in Switzerland

We were put up in a hotel high on the mountains while on a tour of Switzerland. It was in Engelberg a place close to the Titlis Mountains. We had this funicular which we used to get to the hotel although there were steps I was like a child using it much too often.

Seniors behave like children sometimes. That was a first time for me.

My travels have given me the rarest kind of experiences. I still cannot forget the tapering sound of those cow bells as we got higher and higher riding on the cable car to get to the railways station where we took a train to reach Jung Frau.

@allknowing I loved the sound of the cowbells and also the church bells. We don't have either here although occasionally there might be church bells in a town.

It was the property of this hotel and only those who are booked there and may be other officials are allowed to take rides.

@allknowing That sounds like a singular experience. Which hotel in Engelberg was it? Maybe when I go to Switzerland, I'll do a booking there for this ride!

. I know you enjoyed it and it sure beat those steps!!! We took one, too, in Switzerland, but up to the mountain. Coming down we took one part of the way, and a train the rest of the way. We've used them in Capri, Rio, and Norway. It sure beats walking to those heights!1 person likes this

This was a short distance installed by the hotel. That train journey to Jungf rau was by train but never felt the tug.

I like inclines. I have been on a couple. One is inNiagara Falls, and one is the Duquesne Incline in Pittsburgh.

That must be on the Canadian side. I think I have been on one too. But the one that is discussed here is a short distance just to get to the hotel from the road.

Switzerland is a great place for tourists. This funicular I am talking about was just to get to the hotel but there are bigger ventures where people get to top of mountains covering long distances.
