new hair

Yesterday I finally got my hair cut.
I had a Groupon for both a cut and full highlighting or overall color, but went with the highlighting because 1) I don't hate my grey hair, 2) I didn't want to worry about dealing with roots later, and 3) I want to put a fun color in it (like cherry red or Cookie Monster blue) and would have to bleach it first for it to show up on my hair.
I also wanted it cut shorter because I was tired of throwing my hair up in a mom bun all the time because I didn't have the time to deal with it, and hated feeling like I looked frumpy.
I'm overall happier with it (although I haven't done the fun color yet because I haven't picked one up), even if I have to wear a hat this morning because it's cold in the house. It's a bit more punk/glam rock looking than I've looked in a while.

I'm kind of resistant to doing purple, but I might think about it. I've had green in the past, but it's been a while.

@spiderdust I dyed my hair purple when i was like sixteen.
It turned gray in three days.

@spiderdust My hair was down to my bra, in back, I trimmed a foot off and it felt light. I am debating cutting my short again, but curly hair short is a puff ball. Poodle head.

Maybe I'll get some of that Shimmer Lights shampoo and use it until it tints my hair lavender, just like the elderly ladies from when I was little.

Thanks! It's doing a crazy Cruella de Vil thing at the moment since I'm still sporting bed head, but it doesn't take much to get it looking reasonable again.

It looks nice to me! I want to get highlights but they cost a fortune if you get them done in a salon. I have tried the home highlight kits..but somehow it never works right.

I got the highlights so it would be bleached enough for a more vibrant color to show up. I'm thinking about this color over the blonde.

@spiderdust I like the highlights as they are. May be it's because I am no more young and also because my husband never liked big variations about the color of my hair.

I have a curly hair too! Two months ago, I cut it shorter than you and lost my sweet little curls. They are coming alive now. What a relief.

I went even shorter a few years ago! It was nice when those curls returned.
