Sometimes I forget what I was going to post.

It freaks me out, but sometimes I know that there was an idea in my head and it is not there anymore. It also happens with words, with the lyrics of songs, with so many things. This morning I woke up with the sound of the hymn "Amazing Grace" in my head. I tried to remember the lyrics but I did not find it in my head. All I could remember was the word "grace" yet that was not enough to recover it online. After maybe 2 hours suddenly, out of nowhere, my lips said "amazing grace". I ran to the laptop and got it. I even found it in YouTube. Do you have such problems? Should I ask a doctor?

If you remember most things and if you remember after a bit I would not worry about it. I too tend to forget but then just as quickly remember. To train my brain I have a notepad and pen beside me. As soon as I think of something I jot it down and then finish what else I am doing. After that I try to remember what it was I thought of if I remember I am glad but if not then I just look at my notepad.

Maybe I should take a notepad with me.

@marguicha it really is a great way to train the brain and in time you might find that you remember more and you do not have to look at the notepad but it is good to know you wrote it down.

I sometimes have ideas for posts and then an hour or 2 later I have no clue what I wanted to write about.

It happens to the best of us. My remedy for this is to write down in a notepad my writing ideas.

I have to write things down or this happens all the time. If it comes to you later I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I accept that I have to make lists for groceries. But it is terrible when you want to sing and you forgot the words

I have these problems too. I rarely write fiction any more as the words just vanish. I hate it.

I am not writing much anymore either. And when I do, I leave a blank space where the word I know exists but don´t remember goes.

@JudyEv I sometimes leave a wide blank space. I can even hear inside my head the sound of the elusive words.

@marguicha The word eventually pops up doesn't it? But I seem to have trouble with phrases too and not just single words.

I came here to reply something specific and now I've forgotten. Well anyway, you're not the only one and we all have that little bit of forgetfulness in us.

Maybe I should accept it. It seems that I was not forgetful when I was young.

I sometimes, read and memorize things from notes, things that I know I will want to remember for the next days. It is good to write down and memorize, practice the memory. How ? by asking myself questions about the thing. Those questions can help recover and restore the thing I want to think about. You can do that too. I thought I was the only one who forget things around.

I also have the same situation. Thus, I usually put write on a sticky note not to forget certain topics. Then, I will go through if I have the chance.

@marguicha I think that is also the best option. When I am still working in my previous companies, I usually have my organizer. Those were the old days. I wish I can do it again.

I had a very good memory when I was young. So this is not something I accept happily.
