What do you use for laundry?

It's no secret that I buy everything that I can at Dollar Tree, that includes the detergent we use on our laundry. I switch it up sometimes. And because we were out of Fab detergent when I did my shopping yesterday, I went with a different brand. The bottle I picked up is the LA's Totally Awesome Rain Fresh/Spring Stain Lifter Laundry Detergent, otherwise known as the green bottle to employees and our regular customers. I used to get the orange bottle of LAs Totally Awesome, but it started irritating my skin so I switched to Fab and since we were out had to switch to something else. I also use the a scoop of LAs totally awesome powder base cleaner are really dirty laundry. It's orange scented and is like a better smelling, better working, cheaper version of Oxy Clean. Since I just put a load of laundry in the washer I was thinking about laundry detergents and figured I'd see what everybody else used? So what are your laundry go to products?

We either use Gain, Purex, of the Maker's Mark brand you get at Sam's Club.

@thislittlepennyearns Duh, Member's Mark, not Maker's Mark. You can tell where my mind is this morning. Maybe a shot of bourbon would help my coffee.

@DWDavis It would do something in your coffee for sure. You know all the great writers had liquor in their lives. Lol.

I make my own dry blend of laundry soap. It is cheap, it does not give me rashes, and I know what is in it. I use equal parts of all ingredients. Washing soda, borax, oxy powder either store brand or name brand, grated zote or fels naptha. Been using zote more because I can find it already grated. Water softener salt. People do not usually use the salt, but it does three things. 1. It preserves the color in your clothes.2. It softens the water. 3. It kills the tree roots in your line. If I feel like it I will add essential oils to give it scent. Sometimes the grated soap or the oxy powder will be scented. I have never shopped your store, it sounds like your totally awesome would be my choice for an oxy powder. Oh, I use about a 2 Tblsp. scoop of powder in a load of wash. It is good for HE machines as well because it does not suds much at all. If I could find powdered Dreft or Ivory snow I would use those instead of zote, and I could grate bars of Ivory.

Walmart here sells Zote and our totally awesome powder is great. It's a thirty two ounce tub for a dollar. I use it as a paste to clean the sinks too.

@thislittlepennyearns The town where I used to live did not have a Dollar Tree, only a Dollar General. I buy my Zote at Wal Mart. I may have to see if the town where I shop now has a Dollar Tree the next time I run out of my Oxy powder.

We usually use Xtra. We get a huge bottle for under $5 most of the time.

@porwest yeah. If we buy that big of something though our roommate wastes it. So until we move into a new place without him i stick to getting stuff that's smaller or i know he won't use..

@thislittlepennyearns They do. Not terribly expensive either and it seems to work just fine.

My mom does the laundry for me but whenever there's a piece of clothing that i like i wash it natural soap (the one that has no coloring stuff in it and doesn't smell that good) or with any cheap shampoo.

I've done my own laundry since i was a kid. I wouldn't feel right about having someone else to my laundry as an adult unless it was my boyfriend
