Two people hacked on my fb

Remember yesterday when I said I got that friend request from the fellow in the UK? Also, that he was "Mutual Friends" with my brother in law? Yeah, I knew it was a scammy / phishy person. I got proof today. My brother in law and cousin both posted a "Thank You Publix" with a link to a $100 gift card from publix. Several things... 1) The link was Waitrose.somethingoranother.uk 2) I don't even think they have Publix stores in the UK, but if they did? Why would the link say Waitrose? 3) The gift card was for 100 years as a grocery store. I'm pretty sure Publix hasn't been around that long. I'm thinking they got hacked because I doubt either of them posted it themselves... This is why you don't friend everybody under the sun on facebook.

If I don't know someone personally, and I cannot verify that they sent me the friend request, I will not "Friend" them.

I do not friend them either. My brother in law must have as the "person" who sent the friend request showed up as a "1 friend in common' with him.

That is strange, but glad you shared it, so we can be on the look out.

Sure? That's not exactly why I shared it, but all the same.

It is better not to accept any unknown friend request, even if it is says - it is mutual friend. It is better to be safe than sorry.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes, it is good on your part that you take all precautions to not to accept a stranger's request.

I agree. I only accept if I can verify, or feel relatively sure of who the person is. I especially don't accept if it's a picture and name of someone already on my friend's list.

I don't think they got hacked and the friendship thing just happened at the same time, just one of those things. As has been said, it's most likely from an app or a liked page. They can be sneaky like that. No, we don't have Publix, but we do have Waitrose, which is over one hundred years old and is supposed to be like Publix.

I suppose, but then it's an awfully big coincidence. Oh well, it doesn't really matter. I've never actually been inside a publix though I do know people who work in the publix stores.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I'd never heard of it, although I assume it's been referenced in at least one film!!

Glad you notcied it and hope they have since deleted the posts and changed their passwords. Only friends and family have ever been on mine. As that's what I believe it was meantfor. To stay in contact with friends and family. Not add bunch of strangers. Plus i have a bunch of photos and stuff on my daughter on mine.

I don't know whether I believe FB about that. Not that I think they are lying, but then, they weren't forthcoming with what Russia did either.

Yes, I do not also just add anyone in FB. I usually see their profiles first to know how close they were with the people I know.

I sometimes decline friend request from people who have several of us in common.
