I Don't Want to Use Self Checkout Walmart

Walmart is working towards doing away with their cashiers as locally they are shrinking the number of regular checkout lanes and putting in more self checkout ones (which the old amount were rarely used to my observation). Today a we were getting ready to check out there were employee (cashier) trying to direct customers into the self check areas which many customers including my sister and I refused to to do opting instead to stand in line to check out at one of the 8 regular checkouts (use to be 20) and only 3 were opened and they all ended up with long lines It would not surprise me if the garden center register where I go often when alone as it was rarely busy will now have long lines too as there are many of us that don.t like the frustration of dealing with self checkout. I don't think Walmart will be listening to the customers on this issue as if by observation before, that self checkout is not popular (especially if you got a lot as there is no room to unload your groceries so that you have your cart empty tload your groceries after you scan and bagged) and they added more, it wouldn't surprise me if one day we go in and there is nothing but self check outs which I believe will cause Walmart to lose many customer in the long run.

It's time to order groceries online and go in and pick them up. I'm waiting for that. I hate self-check. I prefer a real cashier. I agree. There isn't room to do a large cart of groceries.

@Elizaby I can understand that, but there are some things you can order online.

@just4him There are expecting it to be big here as they got 8 prime parking spots up front that can no only be used by those who order on line and I have yet seen one use one of them. I would have thought they would have had a spot along the front near the grocery side door.

I do not like the idea of ordering groceries online especially for fresh meat and produce as I want to make sure there is not too much fat in the meat and the produce is fresh without any rot on it and I don't trust the employes picking out my food to give me the best.

I do not like self checkouts, I always manage to cause it to have a problem. Sometimes it is such a big problem that the CSM and even the head customer service person do not know what to do. They are also promoting the idea of you scanning the items you buy with an app on your phone as you pick them up. Not gonna do it.

I am not that crazy about self check outs. I go to a regular cashier as long as the lines aren't too long.

Walmart will do anything to cut costs, they will keep the self checkout so they don't have to hire and pay as many cashiers.

I never shop at Walmart, but we have a very large grocery store that also chooses to offer self scanning check-outs. And I will use them if I am in a huge hurry, and only have a limited amount of time and the rest of the check outs are all lined up. The downside to using that service at the grocery store is that you cannot use cash, only debit or credit, so it has to be a big enough purchase for me to do that because just using that machine will slow me down.

If you have a lot of groceries or produce that needs to be weighed it is and it seems to malfunction.

The self checkouts has become popular here. I like it because I can do everything by myself and I can also check the price easily. I don't have the wait a long line. I like that.

We have the same problem here, the self checkouts have not enough room to unload groceries, but they are quickly replacing the normal check outs.

What a loss of jobs for so many, too. I've never used any self checkout and never will.

I hate using those things. The automated voice nags you and something usually goes wrong and staff have to be called, which does the opposite of saving time. They are only useful if you have a load of small change to get rid of and it's too much to hand over at a checkout.

We never use a self checkout if we can help it. It's just doing away with someone's employment and the world doesn't really need more people unemployed.

When I go shopping to my local supermarket or any other store that has self-checkout I usually always do that. I enjoy doing that. The only thing I hate is when the items are rung up at a price that's different from what's displayed on the shelf or something is not working and you have to call for help, which may require you to wait a while before someone gets to you to actual help you. There is no Walmart near me, so I never shop there...

I hate them but I will say, if I got a loaf of bread I will use it, I am not waiting 30 minutes to buy one item.

Walmart is charging higher prices lately and now they want you to wait on yourself. I don't like the self-checkout. It has charged the wrong prices and shorted me on change.
