My Daughter Got Married This Year

My daughter was going to get married Sept first of this year but because of some events that happened beyond their control they decided to downsize their wedding and get married in May instead. It was the smallest wedding I've ever been to as it was only parents and grandparents, siblings, wedding party their significant others and the person performing the ceremony and her husband. It took place in my daughter's future back yard and was a nice event.
I didn't get any pictures during the ceremony because of the angle where I was sitting. As the mother of the bride I didn't think it was appropriate to wander around getting better views so I only have pic of the party afterward.
It was raining for the wedding but mainly sprinkled at the ceremony itself and rained some later. The food was good, a potluck and grilled meat, and the kids danced to music outside.
The reception was still done Sept first as they'd already paid for the honeymoon right after that. It didn't only sprinkle but rained rather hard. I was going to dress up but was told it was casual, picnic style. Then I get there and the groom's mom looked pretty dressy. Ah well. I should have taken off my sweater for that picture but didn't think about it as I don't like being cold.
The larger picture is me, my daughter and her mother-in-law at the picnic reception at a park the smaller pictures are my daughter with her friends standing up in the wedding, my daughter with the groomsmen and her husband with his family. I'm sure someone has something with our family on that day I just need to find it and get permission to use it myself.
We are going to Lansing tonight for a work anniversary meal. I may stop back while on the bus ride down if I have service and am not visiting the whole time.

isn't she such a beautiful bride!! warms your heart. sounds like a great down to earth memorable wedding. shame on them for not telling you it was more formal. but then i always thought it bad taste to wear white dress to a wedding unless you are the bride. so her mother in law was wrong on that anyway ! at least you didn't do that

It was the reception where the mother of the groom wore the white top, not the wedding itself. Head I known she would wear a skirt is have worn the same clothes but taken a shawl or a nicer sweater. I like the shirt I wore but that sweater which is ones of my favorites made me looking a bit sloppy, that's all.
I also thought my daughter was wearing a sundress to the reception but the dress she wore was almost as fancy as her wedding dress. But, that was her perogative. The mother-in-law wasn't over-dressed for the picnic reception she just wasn't as casual as the rest of us.

@bunnybon7 that's okay. Just a little misunderstanding. I probably didn't communicate it well enough

@ScribbledAdNauseum can't let as little rain damper a joyous occasion.

And this post is what I would consider an example of blogging about my kids, or kid in this case.
Both events were lovely, girls, decorations, fun and food.

They all did. We did miss having my h
Brother and his family there. They didn't come to the reception since they always camp that last holiday for the summer and already had their reservations set other family did come in for it though, which was great.

That's a beautiful photo. Your daughter looks just like you. Her mother in law looks like someone I know, I just can't place her. Hmmm. Love love love the colors, they stand out so well with the white.
Don't worry about the dress code, you're gorgeous! That's the kind of wedding I hope my daughter has - IF she ever decides to say yes!!!

Well I had a proper dress on for the wedding. And I was comfortable and warm for the reception. And I like, Kelly, the groom's mom so all is good.
