It was Mid-Autumn Festival on Monday. It's one of the main festivals for Chinese to celebrate. One of the food we use to celebrate is mooncake. I learned how to make mooncakes from my neighbor last year, hence this year we are trying to make them again. It's actually very simple, as I bought the pre-mix powder and fillings, so I don't need to prepare much stuff on my own. We already have the tools, and my big kids have made the mooncakes last year, so actually they did most of the work as I was busy preparing for lunch. This just shows how simple it is to make the mooncakes with pre-mix powder. We made three varieties of mooncakes this year. Two of them are baked ones, and one of them is just to put in the fridge. Altogether we have made 30 mooncakes. After giving a few to neighbors, we finished all of them just within a few days. My kids really like eating the mooncakes, but I found them too filling and a bit sweet too. Have you tried or heard about mooncakes?

Mooncakes. . .what is it made of? I wonder if it is similar to our hopia which has a filling of either pork with onions, or sweet fillings? Though I think if they are those in the picture, it is not.

They sound kinda yummy! I don't think I've had one of those but they do look similar to some treats my kids like getting at the bakery every now and then!
