Third grade excitement

Today, I started third graders playing recorder. They learned how to play B, A and G. Some of them were a bit squeaky on the G but by the end of the lesson most of them were getting it.
They learned to play the song "Hot Cross Buns" too. I told them to take their recorders home and play that for their parents. I'm sure the parents are going to love me... next Wednesday, when the recorders come back to school.
I love recorder and play it in concerts sometimes, usually the tenor recorder in a Renaissance ensemble. I don't understand why so many people are so negative about it. Seriously, have you ever listened to a beginning saxophone player? But everyone loves a good saxophone.
What is your favorite instrument to play or listen to?

Fluegelhorn is nice and mellow. One of my friends in high school, a French horn player, played it for solos in band. Flute is one instrument I play and teach, so of course I like it!

@petatonicsca My high school girlfriend plays the flute, clarinet, and saxophone as well as the piano, organ, and guitar. She's the one who tuned me into jazz. 40 years later, and we are still friends and I still love to hear her play.
