Day 37 Luke 9:37-44 Luke 9:37 And it came to pass, that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him. 38 And, behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is mine only child. 39 And, lo, a spirit takes him, and he suddenly cries out; and it tears him that he foams again, and bruising him hardly departs from him. 40 And I besought thy disciples to cast him out; and they could not. 41 And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither. 42 And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tear him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father. 43 And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered everyone at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples, 44 Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men. Have you been in situations which looked beyond hope? Have you thrown your hands in the air wondering what you can do now? Have you tried every remedy to find no cure or help because the problem persists and refuses to go away no matter what you do? Jesus had come down from the mountain to join the rest of his disciples, and when he did, a father with a demon-possessed child met him and pleaded with him for his help. He had gone to his disciples for help, but they couldn’t do anything for him. Why do people seek help from every source before they turn their hope to God for help? Jesus called the people a faithless and perverse generation. Then asked a rhetorical question, they didn’t understand. How long will I be with you and suffer you? Jesus knew his time was short. Yet, no matter what he said or did, the people still didn’t understand who he was and what he came to do for them. He wasn’t there to heal their sick day after day, teach about God’s kingdom and send them away, only to have them come again for a quick cure. It was a quick cure the people wanted, while Jesus’ heart was ready to burst because of the blindness of the people. He wanted to heal them. He wanted to teach them. Not as a quick cure. He wanted them to see him, know the truth, and see how much God loved them to send him to them, their Savior and Redeemer. Why was it that the only people who knew who Jesus was, were the demon-possessed people? Why did they alone fight to keep their foothold in the person’s life? Yet, they could not because they faced the one person who could send them to their final destination. It was that knowledge that caused the demons in the person to hurt the person more, before they relinquished the person to the hands of Jesus, the Son of God. When the demon departed from the son, the people looked on amazed at what Jesus did, and did not understand what just happened or why. As Christians, you too look to every source before turning to God for help. You forget that Jesus is your healer and came not only to save your soul from hell, but came to help you in every area of your life. When a crisis happens, you call someone, you seek help from every person you can think of, and then when all your hope is fled, you turn to Jesus for help. Jesus should have been the first person, not the last person you go to for your help. What did the psalmist say? Psalm 121:1 < I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence comes my help. 2 My help comes from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. 3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keeps thee will not slumber. 4 Behold, he that keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. 6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. 8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. God is your deliverer in every situation you face. Paul showed that everything will bow before Jesus. Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (KJV) Demons knew Jesus because he is the Son of God. They knew him in heaven before they rebelled against God, and they knew him on sight when he confronted them and sent them from the person they possessed. They had no choice. They had to leave. When you face a situation that is beyond your control, don’t seek every other source first. Fall on your knees, raise your hands to heaven. Let your voice be heard in the courts of God, and God will show you what you must do, even if you must go to a doctor, a friend, your pastor. When you turn to Jesus first, the way will become clear what you must do. Don’t forsake God when looking for answers. Seek him first and he will give you the answer. Let’s pray: Father, help me seek you first in every situation in my life. Let my voice be heard in your courts as I turn to you for the answers I need. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. There were times in my life, when i was still young, when i lost faith in Him because of the failures i had gone through. But as i aged, i realized that God had reasons why those things happened to me. Now, i can face problems without thinking, he has no power to maneuver everything for my own good. But i still feel sad when i cant have what i want.

Think of it this way. It's not that he isn't giving you what you want, but rather waiting for the perfect time to give it to you. Have a blessed day.

My Sunday school teacher said about something interesting Sunday. I was going to post it, but decided not to. He was saying that the Jewish marriage is exactly what he taught. That this is our engagement to Him and Jesus said He is preparing a place for us like a Jewish groom does. And that the Jewish bride can't back out of the marriage, the groom could.
