There are some advantages

I have found that there are some advantages to going to appointments for other people.
I learned yesterday the best way to increase hydration. That is because my sister needs to.
Do not drink iced beverages. Your stomach cramps up and you cannot drink enough.
Do not run around taking little sips all the time. Drink a full cup whenever you are thirsty. Otherwise you are fooling yourself into believing you are not thirsty, because your mouth is not dry.
So that is what I learned yesterday.
Hope you had a good day. I am out the door to work.

It is quite likely that big sips are helpful. I always have some kind of a drink around, mostly water or tea. I guess he just means do not drink just enough to make your mouth happy, but do more, for your entire body.

Yes, this doctor says your stomach cramps up if the drink is too cold. I can believe it. Dehydration is sneaky, but can just about kill you. Tell your brother to drink deeply.

Well, I think sipping is better than not drinking at all.
When I drink something very cold, my throat tends to close up, so I avoid iced drinks.

I agree, it is better than no drinks at all. My sister has a problem with not wanting to drink enough. If you do not get dehydrated, you are doing enough. Your throat does what the doctor said people's stomachs do with icy cold things. They get cramps or contract and you cannot consume as much.

I think you can drink cold drinks some, but if you are like my sister and do not drink enough, you will drink more when it is room temperature. I know many people who have an icy soft drink to sip all day long. He is trying to get her to drink more so she does not get stones.

@GardenGerty I tend to drink cold drinks faster. For some reason I am not really fond of room temperature drinks.

I think it is more common in the US to sip an iced beverage through out the day.

If you do not get dehydrated, you probably sip enough. I vary between the two extremes. I will sip on some days, others, I gulp it down really fast.
